So Batman gets partial amnesia? Pretty good idea for an episode. I liked how Barbara sort of figured it out, but then thought she was wrong. There could've been a better ending instead of Batman saying "Who says I'm a man?" Weird. I kind of liked Penguin's new design, even though it is just black under his eye. NEXT WEEK'S EPISODE: A FISTFUL OF FELT. Same Bat-Time Same Bat-Channel (I just had to say this )

[shadow=purple,left,300]This episode was pretty good, in my book. At first I thought it would be another stereotypical, pun-loaded Penguin romp, but giving Bruce partial amnesia was a twist I enjoyed, even though it seemed the episode didn't really focus on it that much. Adding to that, I liked the "gain back your courage" theme that went along with it. The Penguin was actually enjoyable, something that shocked me since I've only cared for his appearances in "Call of the Cobblepot," "Night in the City" and "The Laughing Bat."
As for Batgirl, she's gotten better. Not as angsty as she was last week, and the "dude" dialogue has been toned down. There were only a few things worth nit-picking about, but I don't feel like getting into it right now.
8/10. [/shadow]

The ART in this episode was really awesome, for some reason the design, color, etc... really stood out, KUDOS to The Batman team for a very well produced and crisp looking episode.
The episode was just okay for me though, the story was decent enough, but I think my problem is that why is there so much Penquin and Joker used in The Batman? ? ? It seems like it flips flops between the two and I am really getting tired of seeing them. Batman has the greatest Rogue's Gallery in the history of super hero's there are so many more villians that can/should be used.
6.5/10

I thought that this was an okay episode. I agree that they use Penguin and Joker way too much. Well now Batman doesn't know who Batgirl really is and Batgirl doesn't know who Batman really is. I think Batman should've of regained his memory before the end of the episode because that's going to change a lot of things. I liked Batgirl a lot in this episode again. 7/10

I thought it was an OK episode - not bad, but full of missed opportunities. It would have been a good chance for the Batgirl character to develop more, but instead she is used in a hostage situation, so we still have to wonder what she is going to bring to the table to help Batman. And where is Yin? If she gets involved (perhaps in a scenario where she rescues Barbara and/or Bruce) then it sets up a nice rivalry between the two female characters that have been partnered so far with Batman - a rivalry that could be developed over several episodes. The final missed opportunity I noticed is in regard to Bruce's amnesia. In my opinion, the writer fails to connect with the number one motivation for Batman's war on crime - the senseless death of his parents. A scene in which Alfred shows Bruce a portrait of Thomas and Martha would have been an appropriate shock to Bruce's stored memory, restoring to his consciousness the main reason that he is the Batman. This is especially important considering the young audience for this show - the idea that Batman does what he does because of what happened to his parents in Crime Alley is central to Batman's mythology, perhaps THE most important aspect of that mythology. "The Batman" has not dealt directly with that notion - it is a foundation for the character that should be brought to the forefront.

I think they should've done something with Alfred asking Bruce "Do you remember what happened to your parents, Master Bruce?" and then have a flashback to Crime Alley at 10:47 PM that tragic night and have Bruce remember.
Does Bruce remember that Batgirl is Barbara? If he doesn't, it will be alright, but I like the good detective way he knew it was her right away.
And please, USE SOME OTHER VILLAINS! Yes Joker and Penguin are great villains, but there should be some other villains we need to see more of: Bane, Freeze, Man-Bat, Catwoman, Clayface, Croc. All great villains that need to be used more.

This is what I posted on BYTB: Parts of it was funny. I like the fact that Gordon took Barb to the Music Awards. I agree that it could have been better. YOu can really sense the 60's theme throughout the show. The giant clock reminded me of the 60's series alot. Not bad for a kids show. I try to keep a kids mind (which my wife says thats easy enough for me..lol) when watching this. I'd say this was between 6 and 7 stars. Also, for anyone that missed the episode, and would like some teaser pics, we've got screen grabs (of course..lol) www.another batman site/forum/viewthread.php?forum_id=9&thread_id=359

It might be an obvious question, but with his partial amnesia will he regain his full memory, and remember who Batgirl is, or does he already know, and isn't saying anything...

He knew since the second ep who Batgirl is. Oh no I know that part of it, but I was wondering since it was brought up and where Bats got amnesia in the last episode and started remembering certain things towards the end of the episode, I was wondering if he will still know who Batgirl is or if the amnesia will wipe that out

After re watching this episode tonight my son and I noticed something that astounded us. During the scene at the music awards Barbara Gordon is looking at Bruce Wayne at the next table as the Penguin assaults the crowd she is talking to herself and is addressing Bruce to change into his Batsuit. Ms. Gordon very distinctly lets go with the word "S%@#! We could not beleive our ears, we played and replayed this segment and we both heard the same thing over and over. After rewinding for about the 100th time I muted the TV and the closed captioning caught the word as "showtime". I wish I had a way to record it and get it on the net for all to hear. It is more than likley a "hicup" in the video playback, we all know that it was not done intentionally. I just want to know if anyone else heard what we heard. Weird...

I watched (and listened) again after reading your post, and I have to honestly say that I can only hear "showtime" - believe me, I was hoping to hear what you heard, because if you were right, then my taped version would be a collector's item - WB would inevitably re-dub that dialogue for the reruns. I wish i could agree with you, I really do! ;D

I know the episode done and over with, but I think I have an answer to the 'Batman not knowing it's Barbara now' question. Even if Bruce has forgotten that, Alfred also knows as well, so Bruce would still know, thank to his faithful butler. No, not one of our staff members, I mean Alfred.

Caught the rerun today. Fun episode. Nice Batman Returns references (Penguin's hideout at the Gotham Zoo with penguins, Penguin chomping on the fish). I also think that Alfred should've reminded Bruce of his parents to try to make him regain his memory (hey, it worked in the final draft/deleted scenes of Batman Forever). It was also good to see Commissioner Gordon again.
