EDIT - you can see all sorts of images from 'The Joining' in this thread*Spoilers from the Season 4 Finales* Just finished with the episode and thought it was great! They did a great job handling Martian Manhunter and if they continue to do it that way with the next episode and the next season's appearance, I don't think we have too much to worry about. Also, those worried about Robin and Batgirl shouldn't be. I think it's interesting that Batman is reconsidering adding them, but I can foresee how this will end anyway; I've seen it set up and followed through like this before. (I think

That's good news. I was afraid about Robin's role in these last two episodes. I can't wait to see it!!

That was an awesome episode. I love the wit and humor in it. And MM's introduction is just great. Well written. Looking forward to next week's episode. I love the preview for it... "Next week GOTHAM FIGHTS BACK"

I thought it was alright. The Ep seemed deliberately drawn out but not bad. MM was handled well enough I thought, but a few times it was odd hearing his voice be so normal / "human" throughout. Bruce to me played just Too smart, arrogant and "cool". Not the worst Ep Ive seen by any means and I'll be watching the second half.

As far as i'm concerned, this episode was pure brilliance... solid excellence in animation and easily one of the best of the show.

Well this episode was setting up for next week and I thought it was strong enough to be its own episode. But yeah I'm use to seeing that family oriented MM from JL and I agree with Batlaw with his voice being too human. But man I'm hoping there's gonna be action figure of these guys...
Also with the line at the end where MM says "they're going anywhere that is vulnerable" could that mean all the possible cities with heroes in it? Since vulnerable cities might need heroes to help out? Anyhow that's just my view on it haha

I thought it was an excellent episode, I liked the design of MM but I do agree the voice was a little too normal sounding, I like the JL voice better. Other than that I really loved this episode.

I forgot to add in my post that they added Lucius Fox. Great nod to Batman Begins since it resembled Morgan Freeman haha.

Lucious Fox was a great addition to the series, the design & the voice was great, as was MM. I was incredibly skeptical that the series would become too crowded with him in it, but I was definately wrong, Joss Whedon's script was brilliant.

I also forgot to comment on Fox. He does remind me greatly of Morgan Freeman and it was fun to see him in on the Batman secret. I can't wait until next Saturday to see how it ends but there is the possibility that I'll miss it! I'll try to stop that

Before watching the episode I was wondering how they'd pull off the alien invasion, I mean there's gonna be something special about Gotham to make the aliens come there but I couldn't figure out a good reason. The whole absorbing techology was a very good idea since Wayne Industries makes the most high tech stuff.

Wow, I'd have to say this is the best episode of the season so far. Just imagine part two. I was kind of shocked when Batman snapped at Batgirl and Robin like that and that he was reconsidering them. I also like how Batman Begins has affected Batman so much since in this series and in Batman Confidential, Lucius Fox knows about Bruce. I think MM is cooler in this than in JLU too, he's more lively. The funniest part was when Batgirl and Robin were in the Batcave talking about robots and then they look at Alfred and she says "Kick his head off." 9/10 I can't wait to see part two next week, if I can get away from playing Spider-Man 3 that is.

I really had high hopes for this ep, even though I don't watch the show. I thought it was just OK. Regarding MM's voice sounding "too human", I don't know about that, but I did not like his little quips. I didn't think he was near serious enough, as he was in JL/JLU. I also wasn't a big fan of the aliens. It reminded me too much of the Borg from Star Trek. What happened to the White Martians? On the positive side, I did like the fact that Lucius knew Bruce was Batman. I thought it made sense. I also liked Batman's interaction with Batgirl and Robin at the beginning. I thought it was ironic and foreshadowed his joining the JL

When Batman snapped at the two I thought maybe he was an alien hahaha At least neither Robin or Batgirl tried to kick his head off. I was shocked at how quickly Martian Manhunter just kicked the head off. Good thing he wasn't wrong

You know what would be cool? If Robin or Batgirl did try to kick Alfred and he dodges them or knocks them down with his feather duster and then walks away saying "Aah, those war skills never left me..." LOL
Seriously, I thought the episode was great. But I think MM should have a bizarre new look like what they did with others. I like how this show had its unique looks for some characters like Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze, Croc, Catwoman...etc compared to the BatmanTAS/JLU series. Maybe put big eyes on him or have a Spawn like cape. I don't know... Oh well, he's great! I wouldn't want any die-hard fans of MM to be like "You ruined his looks!" or anything like that. His voice? After hearing Batman speak for the first time on this show, I kinda expect something like that to happen. I'll get used to him like how I got used to Batman's voice.
Great Episode! Can't wait for next week's!

It was OK for me, but not great. I really didn't get why they had this big chase/fight sequence...you would think that MM would be beyond that. I mean Batman doesn't really know whats going on, yet he's willing to fight this strange creature, who he believes may be an enemy? I mean, if he is a hostile alien or super-powered villain of sorts, then Batman could be dead in 10 seconds, right? The whole intro of MM, once the persona of Detective John Jones is shown to be a disguise, seemed awkward to me. I think more of a team-up between Batman and Detective Jones would have been a better set-up, before revealing MM, maybe in the last 5 minutes. Oh well, I'll be watching the conclusion.

I didn't mind the Martian Manhunter's introduction so much. I thought the fight was a little sudden, but it was just a quick way of showing us all of Martian Manhunter's skills, just in case no one knows

What's up with the whole martians afraid of fire thing? That didn't make sense to me. I figured they'd be afraid of water or something. oh well

[glow=red,2,300] It was an Ok episode wasn't bad but wasn't mind blowing either, I dident really like MM design to much, such as the massive chin and the weird body when he first turns into his true form. I'm viewing this episode as a intro to the last ep, and I'm sure the designs will grow on me, but his will never out do the Timm JL, and JLU no way,lol although its really fun to see other heroes in The Batman animation style [/glow]

It was a good finale for the season. Plenty of action, and a good deal of character development from all of the main cast, including Dick and Babs. Seeing the Joker, Penguin and Freeze (with a glimpse of Bane in the background) fighting the aliens outside of Arkham was an unexpected kick. The story resolves in a predictable, "War of the Worlds" type of ending, but the real ending, with Bats and MM in the Watchtower meeting Flash, GL, Hawkman and (yeah!) Green Arrow was REALLY cool. I personally wouldn't mind if the show went totally JL, as long as Batman is still the central character in the episodes. I was especially thrilled to see Ollie; he's my favorite non-Bats DC character. Gotta rate this two-parter VERY highly, especially Part Two. ;D
