"RING TOSS" episode discussion

[All Star Batman]

The Green Lantern comes to Gotham City this Saturday, December 8 in an all-new episode of "The Batman: entitled "Ring Toss", airing at 11:30 a.m. on Kids WB! on The CW.

The short synopsis for "Ring Toss": In a moment of desperation, Green Lantern commands his ring to fly to Batman, only to have it intercepted by the Penguin.

Green Lantern is voiced by Dermot Mulroney (My Best Friend's Wedding, Must Love Dogs). Miguel Ferrer (Bionic Woman, Crossing Jordan) is Sinestro. Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants) is The Penguin.

Len Uhley wrote the episode, which was directed by Christopher Berkeley.

Overall, good episode. I liked the voices of both Hal and Sinestro even though neither was what I was expecting. Penguin with the ring was good and who didn't see what Batman was going to do when he stood over Sinestro. Next weeks episode looks great, too, even if it's Joker again (was that Harley!!)

I thought it was ok, but I expected more. Sinestro was awesome, but I felt Hal needed a better voice. Penguin with the ring just didn't work well with me. It would've been more interesting if Joker got the ring, but that's just me. I liked when Dick said "No wonder Joker's nuts. You'd go crazy too if you smiled this much." I also liked the little confrontation between Hal and Bats.

HAL: You were supposed to get my ring.
BATMAN: I never got it.

It just reminded me of the part from All Star #8, where Batman thoughts tell us what he really thinks of Jordan.

Joker and Harley next week! YAY!

Frankly, as episodes go, I thought this was the weakest. Maybe its the writer's strike. I don't know.

I though they portrayed the Green Lantern as a weakling. He and Sinestro could have done a whole lot more. Plus, there is no way the Penguin could even use a GL ring. Somebody needs to give the Batman writers some GL books to look over.

I rather liked the ep.
At times it felt way more like I was watching a GL cartoon than THE BATMAN.
Loved Penguin's run with the ring. Parts of it was really funny.
Liked how Sinestro's design was more based on his Super Friends appearance.
Batman with power ring and a green paint backwash, who else can see this variant figure coming out eventually ? Now if just the batman GL figure would come out. Really want a Hal Jordon GL figure.
Really loved how it was Batman that got the final punch.

first of all, i thought that the art design for sinestro was really good. i kind of wish his suit was the Sinestro Corps suit, but his original one isn't that bad and his voice was very menacing. excellent voice acting. But i agree with a lot of the other people's sentiments: i did not think Green Lantern's character was justified to his comic counterpart, even if this is The Batman, and the writers take a lot of liberties with the characters anyway, but all of the Green Lanterns are powerful and this Hal Jordan seemed a little weak to me. I did not like the little side note when Penguin had the ring. Not interested. The episode in general seemed more like a Penguin episode than a Batman episode. Overall, i liked seeing Green Lantern but this episode was not one of the best.

I though Penguin was pretty funny...but what was with his use of APPLIENCES as weapons...a blender, vaccum...i mean really...But then the UMBRELLA! hehe. it was really good. Green Lanturn was kinda...wow...
