All right you Logamaniacs, i just had to snap a quick pic for you guys ( and gals ) to check this out. I am not sure if everyone is aware of a man named Ed Kelly but he has one of the most extensive Batman collections in the free world. Ed has been extremely helpful regarding my Batman collection as he has a knack for obtaining very hard to find pieces some of which were only released in the UK. This Fist Fighting Batman is a long time favorite of mine as both the packaging artwork and the figure itself is top notch. The story goes that due to esculating petroleum prices ( plastic is made from this ) and stiff competition from the toy industry that the Fist Fighting series was conceived. In an attempt to give customers more "bang for their buck" the execs at the Mego Corp came up with a mechanism that when a botton is pushed the figures arms move in a way that simulates fighting. This went over big with the kiddies and remains today one of the most soft after items produced by the Mego Corp. Luckily a very good friend tipped me off of its avaialability as the last boxed Fist Fighting Batman was available nearly five years ago. With the growing number of batman collectors i feel especially grateful that i was able to add this to my collection for such a great price. If anyone would like to see some of Ed Kelly's collection pics simply email me at my addy. Sharing new finds with you guys makes collecting that much more enjoyable. I am looking forward to your thoughts on this awesome Batman figure.

First off thanks for the compliments FB, the box art is simply amazing. And as for you Matt, right you are! Ed Kelly does indeed own the Batmantoys.com site which is visually fantastic. I can look at those toys for hours and never see the same thing. There is no doubt that collecting Batman toys is where its at whether it is of modern toys or vintage treasures. I just cant get enough!!

That's outstanding. If there was ever anybody who deserved one of those it has to be you. I had never seen one before.
Just curious, you have so many Mego items I thought you had them all, are there any that you don't have?

Oh, absoluteley Flabat, i could collect for another ten years and i still wouldnt have them all. A few that i need are the rest of the Kresge carded line ( 17 WGSH's in all ), a set of window boxed Monsters, 4 Secret Identities, carded Fist Fighters, carded Palitoy WGSH and lets not even get into their 12 inch and 3 3/4 inch offerings. Ya gotta keep in mind that the Mego Corp ruled aisle 7 for nearly 12 long years and in that time they produced millions of units. I had the pleasure of chatting with Ken Abrams ( son of then Presidnet of the Mego Corp Marty Abrams ) who mentioned that due to the fact Mego was a media driven company they didnt own any of the lines except for a few. All were licensed for finite amounts of time. Ken has been trying to buy back the " Mego " name but Lego wont sell as they feel it is too close to their brand name and it may cause confusion amoungst their customers. If i would have to guess i would say i am about 40% complete in the overall picture of what was released. Also keep in mind that the Mego Corp had distributors all around the world with Lili Ledy in Mexico and Barvarelli in Italy. There were many more including Grand Toys, Pin Pin Toys and Palitoy who all produced their own packagings while using the Mego Corps figures. Packaging variations are another story which i will be reflecting on once matt and i get together to implement the new Mego section. I've already begun writing copy so it should be too much longer. I'd say once Megocon has past i can then devote all of my time to both that and to a few other projects that i am working on. Just the mention of these projects has caused quite a stir in the Mego community. ;D ;D

Hey Roback, A very excellent score! Is it your first Batman-related Fist Fighting Mego? I really dig the other three (Robin, Joker and Riddler) from the same series as I remember reading about 'em a while ago. Fantastic artwork on 'em all. Cheers, Frosty

Yep, I started with the Fist Fighting Batman because the last one that became available both through networking and through ebay was roughly 5 years ago. The other three are by no means common but they do pop up from time to time. They usually run around $400.00 a piece in high grade condition. I am very fond of the artwork on the Fist Fighting Robin box since he's one of my favorite characters. That bright yellow box just looks so fantastic! Thats what i love about Mego packagings the most. The colors they used in the 70's just reach out and smack you in the face! ;D

Wow. That brings back some memories! I had the fist fighting Joker. He was the only Joker Mego I ever had. It's easily my favorite Joker toy ever made. Great find Robert!

The Super Powers line was one of the best in my opinion. I guess thats why their still as popular as ever. Standing the test of time is no easy feat but that line sure did, big time.

I can't believe I've missed this thread for so long. sorry, Robert. That is an incredible find. I love the "karate kung fu action" blurb. Classic seventies. Now Batman can take on Fonzie! lol.
