Is there any news of a third installment in this Batman series? All I have heard is Christian Bale said that if Christopher Nolan wants to, he's all for it.
But even if they are making a third one, and if they're not, or even if it's still in limbo, what do you think. Should they make a third installment?

I voted on Undecided because I don't really know if they should or not! I mean, don't get me wrong, I would love to see another Batman film, and I would agree if they decided to make one, but at the same time, how can they outdo The Dark Knight? It would be very hard! And if they don't then everybody would be dissapointed!

I'm Undecided,i mean ,i'm the same i want another Batman movie, but i have serious doubts that it could top this movie,i mean this had every thing,Batman's top villian after this who could beat out the joker or even surpass Ledger's joker as another villian,i don't think it's possible.

I would say that there will be another one. I really think that they should too. They have set the bar so incredibly high, I want to see them at least attempt to top themselves. It would be a real shame if they stopped now.

They'd clearly left it open for a third, and judging by its box office so far, the studio are gonna want another, the biggest problem is that the Legend is dead, heath was left dangling at the end of the dark knight, clearly unkilled ready for another installment so that they wouldn't have to top Batman's greatest enemy, they could use him again.... but now they can't, no one will ever be able to play that part again, well at least not for a good twenty to thirty years, and as was said earlier in this forum, your not gonna be able to top the joker, and I think that the utter tragedy of Heath Ledger's death could be what really stops another sequal. Its a massive loss to all of us that he's gone

i think there should be, and i think there will be. going purely from the money side of things, they will make another one. and without Heath they'll just have to use different villains, plus Batman has unfinished business (i won't say what exactly, in case some haven't seen it yet). don't worry if we don't hear any confirmation about a sequel yet, it'll be almost a year until they officially announce they will make one or not, like they did between Begins and TDK.
Nolan and Co. probably want a few months off, and time to do a couple of other movies to free their minds of Batman after such a long process making TDK. we should give them a chance to chill out for a while till they start thinking about a further Batman movie.

I am totally down for a third Batman film, especially with the way The Dark Knight ended, there is many storylines they could go with.
I feel as though if treated right The Batman Franchise could and should be treated just like The James Bond Franchise, Bats has The Greatest Rogue's Gallery in all of Comics and some of the better Supporting characters around him that if you bring in the right directors and actors to play these parts with a super amazing story, Batman movies could live on forever.
Although part of me is ready for a Justice League movie, or atleast a Batman-Superman movie or a Batman-Superman-Wonder Woman movie

They should make a third movie just to tie up the loose ends. it will not be as good as the dark knight. take star wars as an example, the empire strikes back is an immense film and return of the jedi didnt live up to it but it finished the story off. thats why there should be a third film and of course Warner Bros. want to see that lovely cash in the bank.

Of course they should. I mean, look how TDK ended! With the cops chasing Batman! They would end it there? No! And not at all would the third one be as good as the first two of course, and obviously itll get a lot in the box office.

I don't think it will be a matter of 'topping' anything - a third will be the resolution to the events of 'Dark Knight', which I'm sure will be inherently less satisfying; but it will provide closure.

For a third movie in the Franchise, studio heads would call for Nolan to Direct again and Nolan said that he has given this film his all,i mean from a story line point of view,Nolan would have to go in a completely different direction, his done the whole city at the mercy of a lunatic thing and that leaves what exactly, a load of Batman villains that do the same thing the Joker did in this film in the comics every day,so that means at least i think anyway that the story line of a third film would have to encompass a villain that would have to launch an attack on Batman's life both as Bruce Wayne and Batman and that's really kind of a Hush Story arc and the reason for that would be since Nolan tries to give the audience something that they have never seen the Batman come up against before at least not with Nolan behind the camera.

All of you have great points. But don't get me wrong, I would love to see a third Batman and I don't care if they top TDK or not, my soul is happy enough with what TDK has done!!! BUT it's just thr whole critics and all, I mean it would hurt so bad to hear bad reviews and things like that Batman sucked, and Batman would be out of popularity for a while, and that would be the end of this movie franchise if another is not well liked!

A bad review wouldn't end the series, studio heads know that to make another one of these they're going to have to make the story as good as or better than the last Batman film,in terms of realism it'll be a story thats under power compared to the last one but still good all the same,no Batman film after the Dark knight can be a straight up action flick no-brainer.

A bad review definitely didnt stop the old Batman franchise (hence the making of Batman & Robin)

Yeah, I know bad reviews wouldn't end it, but I still hope that if they make a third, it is better or of equal "quality"!

If they make a third, they could go something that's a little based or influenced on the No Man's Land series, I haven't read the comic yet but I'm reading the novel and the Batman signal has been destroyed (so that can fit into Batman 3), either Jim or Oracle says that Batman is needed now more than ever, but those are just two things and I haven't read the whole thing yet. It can't be entirely based off of it though (obviously since, Oracle hasn't even been a Batgirl yet in the Nolan world and possibly never will be).
Sadly, from what I heard, No Man's Land wasn't a really good comic.
I do hope they make a third, but no stupid unnecessary villain deaths like what happened to my favorite villain...

I actually enjoyed "No Man's Land" as a story but, no offense intended, I really hope they don't go that route. Not just the NML route, but following any one particular story that we've previously seen.
Up to this point in the series, they've clearly been inspired by some of the more appropriate Batman stories, but Nolan and his team have been telling original tales. Any story that's already been crafted in comic form has been played out in our collective heads and we all interpret that story differently. An original story allows for unexpected twists and turns in the plot without any preconceived idea of how it should play out. I'm as a big a Batman comic fan as the rest of you...but I say stick to the original material.
And I totally agree about gratuitous deaths. Avoid 'em. So far, they have. It's unfortunate that Two-Face was taken so quickly but it made for a great story. I believed in Harvey Dent despite knowing what he would become.
I'd love to see Catwoman in the next installment and Batman is currently in the market for a new love interest....being that the last one...well, you saw it.
