This is one question that I simply cant answer. I knew the name well in the very early 80's but when I was playing with the Worlds Greatest Superhero line I am not sure if the name stuck. Did you guys recognize the brand name?

That's what I played with growing up in the 70's...Worlds Greatest Superheroes, Star Trek, Planet of the Apes, Action Jackson, LJN Swat, Emergancy, Rookies, Comic Action Heroes, Buck Rogers. I also played with GI Joe, Star Wars, Big Jim, Lone Ranger & 1:72 scale & 1:32 or 1:35 scale plastic Armymen from Airfix. But the Mego/LJN lines were by far my favorates. PJ

Well, of course. We thought it was a funny name as kids. I guess it still is.

Speaking of the name, Marty Abrams told us how he thought it up at the 2004 Megocon. One day as he was leaving the house his son said " Me go, Me go too! and there you have it. Corny but extremely effective from a marketing perspective along with being a cute story to boot. I've been and done alot of things in my life but meeting and interacting with Marty was definitely a highlight.

The first time that I ever recall hearing the name MEGO was with the Action Jackson line. I collected this 'cheaper version of GI Joe also. Action Jackson was the same size as the Super Heros line, and had dozens of action clothes playsets like the Joe's.

There was recently a hardcover book from Two Morrows called Mego 8" Superheroes World's Greatest Toys that is worth picking up. Packed with incredible detail on the toy line.

I remember riding my bike to the dime store and getting a new figure every time I had enough money. I even bought Tarzan in that funky body suit!

I just remember seeing the figures and knowing they were from the same to line because of the cloth clothes on them.

Yeah, I had some Action Jackson figures when I was a kid . . . my parents (probably my Mom) weren't quite willing to buy me G.I. Joes at that point (back when G.I. Joe was the 12" tall army figures).
I never bought the Mego Superhero figures, though . . . I remember seeing them advertised by Heroes World and also saw them in stores, but they were too childish to me at that time, and I probably preferred to spend my money on actual comic books.

I only ever had a few megos personally but remember them clearly and fondly. Couldn't go anywhere without seeing those wonderful displays. Boxed heroes on display.
