^ i still dont know how you can say Sheamus didnt earn the title. 2 years in FCW, waiting his turn, he finally gets promoted and he goes out and works. and that hard work earned him a promotion to Raw, where he continued to work hard and show that he belongs in the main event. its the same thing with Kofi Kingston and Eric Escobar (who will continue to be pushed and he will be a main eventer). working in FCW is basically the same thing as working in ECW, just with better matches and more people watching you. FCW is not an indy promotion.
and wrestling isnt an office job. you dont have to have longevity with a company to get pushed. Nigel McGuinness is the perfect example. he first match with TNA was in a shared main event competing against Kurt Angle. he didnt come from WWE. he belongs in the main event though. and thats where he is.
as for Mysterio, he did not earn the World Title. he got the title and that push because his friend died. thats the only reason. his in ring work at that time was terrible. he was slow, he missed spots, and he had to be carried through half his matches with JBL.
and i do agree that TNA is basically WCW again. but thats not a bad thing. you said the original didnt work, how didnt it? i'd say a decade as the best promotion in the world is working. the AWA was never the best promotion but it worked. the NWA is a joke these days and basically folded, but you cant say the promotion didnt work. you're forgetting that Ted Turner owned WCW and didnt throw money into it. it made him the least amount of money of all his other businesses and he didnt have to pay for air time, so it didnt cost him much. all promotions go up and down. Ted Turner just sold it off before it went back up. but WCW worked, and there are far worse comparisons that can be made for TNA.

Bret Heart is Returning to Raw or SD i dunno But His Contract Is Going To Last about 4 Months and Starts On The First of January. i dunno bout you guys but i want to see HBK vs Bret Heart at WM26!! where to begin, where to begin? first, its Hart, not Heart. second, he never once appeared on the program Smackdown so he couldnt possibly return to it. and finally, there is no possible way Bret Hart will be wrestling. he retired due to the concussions and stroke he had. he has trouble walking and is in no shape at all to be wrestling. he hasnt wrestled a match in over 10 years. he's going to be an authority figure of some sorts for the short term as he needs some money and he wants to promote his new book. and lastly, the contract he has supposedly signed is for 5 months, not 4. if you are going to post news reports please have them be accurate and get the info from an accurate source. the signing is just WWE's "answer" to TNA's signing of Hogan & pending signing of Flair. this is also old news from last week. the current news is the Flair/TNA situation which could get finalized and announced any day now. www.ewrestlingnews.com thats where i got the news from. and ya didnt have to go all rage at me geez

You are the only person I know who doesn't believe that's the reason he won. I haven't watched wrestling in a long time. I was a Kane fan, but he took the mask off years ago. Has he ever put it back on? No, he's still unmasked.

you guys know better than this. continued off-topic trolling will get this thread locked and any more flaming and/or undue sarcasm & insults will get warnings issued. this is the only warning that will be given.
now back on topic and back to the discussion. i'm aware that Sheamus and HHH are friends, but its not the only reason he got the title. he wouldnt have even made it to Raw if it werent for his hard work all the years prior.

"TNA SPIKE TV’S “TNA iMPACT” DELIVERS ITS HIGHEST RATINGS EVER FOR HULK HOGAN’S DEBUT IN SPECIAL LIVE EPISODE
2.2 Million Tune-In For Live Three-Hour Telecast New York, NY, January 5, 2010 – Hulk Hogan’s first appearance on Spike TV’s special three-hour live “TNA iMPACT” on Monday, January 2 (8:00-11:05pm) drew 2.2 million viewers. This marks the most-watched "TNA iMPACT" in the history of the franchise, totaling 222 episodes dating back to October, 2005. The previous high was 1.97 million viewers reached last April The event was broadcast from the TNA iMPACT! Zone at Universal Studios in Orlando, Fl. Airing head-to-head with WWE on USA Network, “TNA iMPACT” peaked at 2.9 million viewers from 9:00-9:15pm ET/PT.
Overall, the telecast drew a 1.5 household rating, a 1.8 in Men 18-34, and a 1.6 in Men 18-49. For the time period, “TNA iMPACT” was up a whopping +338% in M18-34, +241% in M18-49, and +84% in average audience versus a year ago."
Raw's early estimates are at 5.6 million viewers, i havent heard what the household rating is yet. and they havent released the by the hours ratings yet either. thats good news for TNA though. they go head-to-head with Raw and basically double their viewers. Impact was pretty solid last night. fantastic main event, fantastic Knockouts Tag Title match, alot of nostalgic moments. the only problem i see with TNA going forward is Hogan's b.s. claims about the young guys getting pushed and everyone being equal and having to earn. once he started the heel promo against Jarrett and then Nigel McGuiness jobs to the Pope i started laughing. Nigel is the best young wrestler on that roster after Styles. Bischoff hates young talented wrestlers. he buries them at all opportunities. Hogan too. they wont let Jarrett & Russo keep pushing guys. i already see the Destination X main event of Hogan vs. Jarrett. World Elite is going to start getting buried too. Jarrett's guys will get buried, Angle will get catered to and tended to and get everything he wants as they cant afford to lose him & Hogan will i'm sure attempt to give himself the World Title. it was probaly put in his contract that he has to get at least one run with belt. at least Scott Hall actually showed and got mic time. that was great. and the Knockouts division was featured prominently (as it always should be).

Sure was a wild night of wrestling last night. I was flipping back and forth all night. I think TNA was better though. While on topic of guest hosts, I read that The Rock has turned down the offer to host. I guess he'd rather do movies about being the Tooth Fairy. Oh how the mighty have fallen...

While on topic of guest hosts, I read that The Rock has turned down the offer to host. I guess he'd rather do movies about being the Tooth Fairy. Oh how the mighty have fallen... guest hosting is just for guys who need money and need to promote something. The Rock needs either. McMahon is The Rock's hollywood agent so he's still getting paid anyway. the reason he's doing Tooth Fairy is because he signed i believe an 8 picture deal with Disney. while its really not my type of movie, i cant call it bad, Race to Witch Mountain was great. it was a real entertaining movie. i'm hoping for a sequel. plus Billy Crystal is in the movie with him, it could get funny with the 2 of them doing scenes together. if TNA gets closer to Raw in the ratings i'm sure McMahon will be able to convince to come back for a night to insure a huge night. so i listened to the Cornette thing. it was pretty funny. he's definitely still bitter about his firing, but he's not wrong on alot of stuff. the Knockout Tag title match was excellent though, he's wrong on that, but he doesnt think of women's wrestling as legit anyway, he's way too old school. its funny that he elevated ROH like that though. while Richards/Strong was a solid match, its nothing new and those 2 have had far better matches against each other than their match from last night, but he has to say good about the company he works for. i'm surprised he didnt mention Orton or Kofi at all though. the host was asking him his feelings on the young guys in WWE and all he mentioned was The Miz (who didnt even wrestle last night). he talked about Sheamus after he was asked. i was surprised to learn that he's not watching any wrestling aside from ROH though. he's also blaming Russo for things that Russo had nothing to do with. keeping Beer Money off the show was not a Russo move. thats a Bischoff move. concealed attackers. thats all Bischoff. Cornette just really hates Russo, so he's alittle blind and biased there. and i dont know where he heard Hogan & Bischoff would fire Russo. Jarrett would never let that happen. his relationship with Russo is basically the equivalent to Hogan's with Bischoff. and he hit the nail on the head with Steel Asylum. its bad on tv. they dont know how to get the camera right and the bars being red makes it tougher to see too. they need to go back and watch AAA's dome cage matches again (where they stole the idea from), AAA has perfect camera work for those matches. you see perfectly.
on another note from that site, check out the Steiner shoot from some convention. its a quick 2 minute thing but its funny. it was on the main page near the top. classic. i may have to pop in my Highspots Steiner shoot again. he's just too much sometimes.

just a tidbit for Impact next Thursday, no Hogan. i'm thinking he's only going to appear on their Monday shows and right before his match with Jarrett for aome extra build up. Flair will be there and Nigel Mcguinness vs. Samoa Joe. and Young Bucks make their debut as well. show looks solid. alittle too Nitro-like, but solid none the less.

Tony Halme, who wrestled as Ludvig Borga in the WWF in the early 90s, was found dead in his home in Finland this morning. he was quite good in the ring. he was 47. it hasnt officially been revealed how he died, but some Finnish newspapers claim that he shot himself.

lets do something fun. lets discuss some current dream matches that will probaly never occur, but you want to happen.
well the obvious for me is Sting vs. basically every top guy in WWE. but particularly Sting vs. HBK, Sting vs. The Undertaker (i know they wrestled back in the early 90s, but it was a quick match back when Taker was jobbing in WCW), Sting vs. Edge, Sting vs. Chris Jericho, & Sting vs. Randy Orton.
others like Batista vs. Hernandez, Edge vs. Daniels, & Kofi Kingston vs. A.J. Styles would be awesome matches as well. Kurt Angle vs. MVP, Austin Aries vs. Randy Orton, & Bobby Lashley vs. Sheamus i'd like to see as well.
there's actually more matches that i want to see but cant than i thought. what matches do you guys want to see?

Daniels/Jericho & Styles/Morrison would be so awesome. CM Punk has faced A.J. a bunch of times though. their best match had to be from ROH's At Our Best back in 2004. pure wrestling rules, Ricky Steamboat as the referee. just a pure classic. same thing with Daniels & Punk. they had an amazing feud that ran through much of 2002, the best match being the 30 minute Iron Man match they had against each other. i dont know the show its on as i have it on a Best of C.M. Punk dvd. its definitely worth seeing. and Homicide faced Evan Bourne in an awesome tag match in the main event of the 1st night of the 2007 Chris Candido Memorial Cup. it was when Bourne was wrestling as Matt Sydal, he teamed with Josh Abercrombie against Homicide & Low Ki. i think they had a singles match at some point too, but i'm not 100% and if they did i never saw it. i'd love to see that though. i may have to go looking now as a Homicide/Sydal singles match has me intrigued. especially since it would be Homicide at his best before he got lazy.

^ that was one of Russo's best ideas in WCW. the Cruiserweight Tag Team division. 3 Count, Mysterio/Kidman, Skipper/Romeo. some solid teams. i miss Nitro sometimes. and the Styles/Sydal match was probaly for IWA Mid-South. the Homicide/Sydal tag match i was telling you about was also for that promotion. they hosted the Candido Memorial Cup that year.
but if you want to see some really early A.J., check out footage of him in NWA Wildside. he wrestled Ron Killings (R-Truth) alot.

seeing a 4 sided TNA ring was crazy. i'm glad Kennedy finally debuted. they should have had him win clean and face a better opponent than Abyss though. i was utterly shocked to see Daniels job to Morley clean. so Bischoff wasnt totally wrong when he said he would shock us. i was stunned. while Morley is a fine wrestler, Daniels is a better wrestler and was just in a title match last month. i guess they really want to push Morley and get him over as a top guy. i'm very happy Tara got the title back. Hall didnt wrestle, which sucks, but it isnt a surprise. i am surprised he actually even showed up at all though. Styles heel turn was interesting. we'll see if it takes.
on another note, WWE made yet another stupid decision and decided to release Eric Escobar. i'm really mad about this. i hope he goes back down to Puerto Rico and really shines. maybe TNA will grab him afterwards too. he has alot of talent. i've followed his career since it began and he is something. WWE didnt use him right anyway, but its still frustrating to see a guy with his ability get tossed aside.

both Kong & Cheerleader Melissa have requested release from TNA. Melissa is said to have been granted hers, but TNA is fighting Kong on her request. apparently a handful of other wrestlers have also requested release. alot of people in the company arent liking the direction that Bischoff is taking things creatively & they hate the influence that Hogan has on the decision process and the comments he has been making publicly on his friend's low-rated radio program.
and since it seems i'm just talking to myself here i'll hold off on posting any more news or attempting to get good discussions going until things pick up in this thread, if they ever do.

I can understand from a production perspective why the TNA 6sided ring would be a pain. But I think it was still stupid to get rid of it. It was something that made that company unique. It stood out. You could be watching and be like "hey, is that a 6 sided ring". I'm sorry. but I will continue to disagree with others on this board. All Bischoff and Hogan are doing is recreating WCW and that just won't work in the end. I'm really surprised AJ Styles still has the belt.
But since I'm back at school, and wrestling is getting boring again, I'm gonna quit watching. Although, I read previews of Vince Russo's books. I might have to pick those up. Sound really interesting.
