Did anyone see the latest Punisher film? Keeping in mind that I have a huge dislike of the first two (being a Punisher fan and all), do you think I might enjoy it?

^ i too am a huge Punisher fan and i hated the first 2. this one is just as bad as the others, if not worse. Stevenson is horrible as Punisher. they made the skull on his chest black and he doesnt don it too often. they decided to just take characters they like that dont belong in that part of Punisher's life and put them in it. Jigsaw was done horribly wrong. Dominic West was not a wise choice. they make up his real name, instead of using his real name from the comics. the majority of the movie is Punisher vs. the police and him whining about not wanting to do this anymore.
it has alot of action and its pretty violent, but it definitely could have been done better. especially since they had him as an already established Punisher in the movie. how hard can it be to put him in a shirt with a white skull on it and have him kill mobsters. i would have been happy if they even remotely adapted something from the comics.
all in all, its not worth seeing at all in my opinion. i wasnt going to see it at all, but my brother was visiting and wanted to see it so i sad what the hell, how bad can it be? it was real bad.

Thanks for the honest review. I was hopeful that it would be at least adequate. I'd take that considering how horrid the other two were. sigh.
I'll see it eventually, but I'll definately wait. Thanks jlavaia.
Any other opinions?

Well I really want to see this, but my work schedule just isn't agreeing with me. I think it looks good though.

[shadow=red,left,300]Honestly,
I disliked it. The acting was awful and Jigsaw looked and sounded stupid! I liked some of the action scenes, but the bad story line and bad acting took away from that! I just thought the movie was stupid from start to finish!
But there was one thing I really liked about this movie that made every little thing feel better.
I got my Money Back! ;D[/shadow]

I'm planning on seeing it because it looks horrible. Everytime the preview would come one, I would start cracking up because every line that was supposed to be BA was just monotone. I started going around to everyone talking like that. I'm going to be filming some sketches of me as The Punisher where I just go about daily life, talk in a monotone voice, and kill a bunch of people. Should be fun.

Saw it last night. If you liked either of the previous Punisher movies you wont be totally disappointed but you'll hardly be impressed either. Save some money at least and just rent it. If you didnt like the previous movies you will not like this one... unless you want to be able to sit and laugh and make fun of this and these type of movies. This one is easily the silliest and most "spoof" like. Plenty of material to make fun of.

I haven't seen it yet, but I think it's gonna suck. Why is all the hate for the Tom Jane one? It's one of the best Marvel Movies.

It's one of the best Marvel Movies. i believe its due to the horrible acting, mixed with horrendous interpretation of source material. Punisher being a former FBI agent. not having his family killed by the mob. things like that. thats why i didnt like it. Thomas Jane also doesnt look like Punisher and they tried to give him the Bradstreet look but screwed up. it just wasnt entertaining.

not having his family killed by the mob. things like that. Uh, if the Saints weren't a mob family, then what exactly were they?

not having his family killed by the mob. things like that. Uh, if the Saints weren't a mob family, then what exactly were they? a criminal enterprise. they were money launderers who also were occasional involved in gun trading. they were not a part of the Mafia. the Saints werent Italian. they werent Russian. they werent Japanese. they werent Irish. Howard Saint used a mixed variety of people in his employ. they were basically just a gang. in the comics, its the Italian Mafia that kills his family. specifically the Costa Crime Family. thats the mob. Howard Saint can be compared alittle to Wilson Fisk, only on a much smaller scale. he runs a criminal organization with no ties to any specific families or nationalities. just criminals.

^ that would be incorrect though. the Saints were in no way a part of the mob and were in no way depicted as being a part of that organization. "the mob" as we are talking about them, is in reference to the Italian Mafia, a.k.a. La Cosa Nostra. Howard Saint and his brothers were not Italian. to be a part of La Cosa Nostra you must be 100% Italian. the Saints werent even half Italian.
you missed my point in my original comment though. that particular film deviated quite a bit from the original source material. in the comics, the Costa Crime Family was responsible for his Castle's family being killed. members of La Cosa Nostra. they changed that in the film. his family was killed by members of a criminal organization that was run by Howard Saint. it wasnt the mob that killed his family.

Semantics and technicalities... it all falls under the banner of "organized crime" which is all people see and all that matters. Even that not so much.
