Not sure if this was reported here or not, but the DCSH Azrael has either a running change or possibly a chase variant. Nothing huge but still something noticeable. I'll scan the packages Sat. night.
Azrael's left gauntlet flame was originally released in a yellowish plastic and is now shipping as reddish. There is a teeny, tiny #2 on the reddish accessory, so Mattel did change the part. From the 4 packages I have, the right flames seem to be the same though ?
Anyone else have any info on this ?

I couldn't say as I've only seen one Azrael figure to date. PJ

Here are the 2 best scans I could get. The 1st pic is of the yellowish flames, the 2nd is the reddish. The reddish one does have a more recent date stamp imprint.

Thanks for the picks. It's kinda hard to tell, I think it might be a variant. Because I think Chase figures have more obvious changes, like the Osito bear. But, we'll have to wait for the word from Mattel to know for sure

Alright gang. I came through and got some official word from Mattel on this subject....in regard to ALL Dc figures. Don't shoot the messenger, ok?
Here's the deal. We may notice some...difference..variations on characters, especially Batman villains, in the coming waves. Whether these are running changes, variants or chase figures they are now going to leave up to us collectors to decide...they are no longer going to label them in that way.
This being known officially, I say we, as a collecting community, try to think of what exactly makes a "chase" or "variant" to us versus a "running change".
Personally, unless there is a different head sculpt or accessory, its just a running change. If I can't find it, its a chase, lol.

The mark of a truly beautiful figure is when you don't particularly like the character (I speak for myself, here, I'm not fond of Azreal) but you want the toy just because it's sooo cool!

Exactly. I'm not a big Azreal fan, I like the character somewhat, but I love the figure.

I love this figure alot but I don't want to remove it if it's worth more lol. ;D [/shadow]

I realize that I'm in the minority, but I actually am an Azrael fan. And I absolutely cannot WAIT to get my mits on this figure. Sadly, I have yet to find him.....but I'm hoping that I will in the next week or two.

Thanks for checking Matt, sad to hear that Mattel gave such a lame response. I 'll address that in the other post shortly. ;D As to Azrael, in this case it's a running change. I rec'd my 2nd Azrael test shot late this week. On the flame accessories, my 1st proto has has a tiny L1 and R1 on the flames. The 2nd test shot has a L2 and R2 on them. (The L and R do stand for left and right).

I don't know about everyone else, but I always enjoy your posts, info and inquiries regarding packaging and figure variations. Now..my question is, which color came first?

Thanks for the kind words Matt and ??The Riddler?? The 1st version is the one with yellow flames. This version has the earlier date stamps. Depending on how many yellow ones Mattel made, it could still ship for a while. I kind of prefer the yellow version myself, that's the one I opened for display.
