We're discussing this on our Facebook page too: www.facebook.com/pages/Legions-of-Gotham/50072799746Are message boards obsolete? I get more comments on Facebook to our news than on here anymore. Is it too much work to go to all those different sites nowadays? We get plenty of people coming through the forum, but no one bothers to comment on here. Opinions? Thoughts?

Well, Matt, Things are still a little slow with Batman, I'm sure when Bruce returns as the true Batman, things'll pickup and so will the posters.

I barely use my facebook. And not to sound untrusting, but I'm not so keen with everyone knowing my name and what I look like. I don't think facebook has replaced message boards. Part of the problem is that its just been a slow Bat-news time. It also doesn't help that this boards seems to be more "The Dark Knight" Batman than an everything Batman board anymore. Things should pick up soon though with Comic Con coming up. Red Hood, the comics picking up, etc.

i dont have a Facebook, and i really dont see message boards becoming obsolete because of facebook. look at boards that have 10,000+ members, there is no way that many people would just stop visiting the site just to use facebook, especially since alot of boards allow you to post messages via your phone, so its not even like using Facebook is easier for people who travel.

I dont think so. I personally much prefer the forums. I may as well not even have a facebook acct. I dont really get it and dont use it (or other such things). If nothing else, there is room for both and pros/cons to each.

I'm on Facebook, a lot! But I still find time to visit the Batman message Boards I'm a member of. I think f them as 2 different things. It might be slow right now because it's summer & many people are busy. Otherwise, this is a great board! Side Note: If anyone is a Facebook member then please add me. www.facebook.com/batblog

I have a facebook and a myspace but I don't ever get on either of them unless I have a message or some type of comment from someone that I feel is important. But I'm a member of the Green Lantern Corps forum page and this and I get on both forums for hours on end at work. I'm on here right not while I'm at work. I don't think that facebook will make boards obsolete.

I think both are useful. While Facebook had a discussion forum area, it isn't customizable, like a regular forum is. As someone above me said, it's slow right now, so I imagine it'll pick up, eventually.
If I can make a suggestion though -- the format of this board is really not user friendly. I know I am a dinosaur, but I am at 1024x768 resolution on a 17" old school Sony Trinitron monitor. Or I use a lap top. And the forum takes up half the screen (the right side).
The forum might be a little more popular if it was re-done to be full screen and was a little more user friendly.

If you ask me-Facebook is obsolete. Poke? Really? How stupid could that place get. I don't have one, and for that, I'm glad. I love message forums, people who are into things you like only see the comments. Facebook is pointless-besides-peopel can do what ever they want on there. Last year-because I have a darker demeaner than most people-a club called Amberf****ingEmoK was put on-showing a horriable picture of me pushing a camrea out of my face. Half my school joined-it took 6 months to shut it down. Now theres another alleged club about me out. Facebook is useless, best for the world to go back to message boards.

I don't really know if Facebook is what's slowing everything down. I kind of agree with everyone on the it's just a slow time for Batman and this board. I mean I haven't visited in a while because no one seems to post anymore, no one seems to reply to my pm's, and so on, if we actually had a decent amount of topics and boards, I'd probably be coming back a lot more. But I see Facebook as something completely unrelated to message boards and so I can't see Facebook making them obsolete.

I don't use Facebook at all because I don't really see the need to have my face shown as a public profile because it is seriously a complete waste of my time. I am a member of a messaging board in Ireland and I seem to enjoy it while I can.
Message Boards will still be part of the internet and will stay that way IMO.

I hope it doesn't become "Facebook or nothing" since I find Facebook pretty annoying and trivial.
But I'm also old and not in to everything that most people younger than I am are.
