I agree with the no Nolan part too!!!! If it's going to go this far I'll say it Nolan ruined the joker. Heath Ledger in that movie was not the Joker and I blame the director for that. The Joker wasn't funny and why did he have to look like he came straight out of a mudvayne video. Those movies don't even feel like Batman to me. Take the first one what director/writer thinks it a good idea to have a movie called Batman Begins (key word Batman) and you don't even see Batman until an hour and 10 mintues (I watched the counter on my dvd player) into the film. sorry about the rant. Did you not like the Joker just because he wore make-up? That didn't take away from his character at all. He was still the homicidal clown we all love, and it was the best interpretation of the character created. Would you have rather they just put Batman in their with no explanation whatsoever? Every superhero needs an origin story. Batman's no different. No it's not the make-up they could have made his face orange and I could have handled it had they gotten the personality right. Nothing he did made me laugh where was the dancing, the laughing, the Charm. The killing joke now that is the joker, Mark Hamill thats the joker. They messed up the jokers origin really bad too he's not a knife victum. I guess thats my problem with the way he looks. As for the first movie I'm not saying backround is bad but it could have been handled much better. To be honest the first time I watched it I was so mad it took that long to see batman I turned it off as soon as I saw him. They could have used flash back for some or just cut it down and hour and 10 minutes is insane.

See I like Nolan's directing I hate how it's supposed to be realistic. Heath was an amazing joker just a bad make-up job. Also no Joker Venom seriously thats annoying it's a big element to the Joker since it's his signature weapon (That's like Batman with no Batarangs.(did I spell that right?) Also Robert Downey Jr as Batman he did a pretty good job as Iron Man he could make a good Batman and a good Bruce Wayne. Also I think Killer Croc working for Black Mask (And maybe turn on him.) would make a good moive. Batman could fight Croc a few times with Batman having no sucess till the end. Maybe throw Scarecrow or Zsasz in there to?

Oh how I miss this thread. How it once was a fun ground for what we hope to see as far as characters and possible story points. What happened to those days? When did this thread become another Keaton vs. Bale and anti-Nolan thread? I guess I will have to go through this one step at a time. Will I change anyone's mind? Probably not. People are stubborn. But it is worth a shot. Please note that all of this is personal opinion.
1. The Joker: People need to stop thinking of Heath's Joker as the Joker, because besides a few similarities, they are entirely different. If he would have been named Jester, would you feel the same way about him? If you had never knew anything about the Joker, would you think this character were so horrible.
2. Realism: One of the things about Batman is that he is grounded in realism. He is a regular man who trains to the best of his abilities and uses high-tech items to fight injustice. I can't fault Nolan for going back to the origins of the character. I think something that people overlook is how much Gotham makes more sense in the Nolanverse. It is actually a place I could see people living in. This is an inherent problem with many of the other mediums for Gotham (especially comics) where with so much crime, it would make no sense that anyone would live there. I think that the universe Nolan has setup has lead to some interesting interpretations of characters. Characters need to evolve, otherwise people will lose interest. To come up with new interpretations, often it is best to give yourself parameters for what you feel needs to be changed for the story and for the environment. I think Nolan did quite well with that.
3. Bale Does Batman have to use a gun and kill people? Does Batman have to dance? Does Batman's suit have to have nipples? Does Batman have to fight ghosts? There are a ton of different interpretations of the character. Some like more than others, but they are all interpretations. I think people's gripes with Bale comes more from a dislike of this version of Batman. Batman's Bruce Wayne voice can be his normal voice. Just because some of the writer's say it in a couple of comics doesn't mean that every interpretation has to do that. Because comic books are written by numerous writers, there is no correct interpretation of who the character is. Given the way comics retcon frequently, you can't even believe what is happening is actually happening. I personally really enjoyed Bale's performance. Trying to suggest that Bale looked small in the role was ridiculous. If you liked Keaton more, then that is fine. You can go watch that too. I think that is what people don't understand. If you wish they would have done something from the comics, why don't you just read that comic? It doesn't have to be translated to other medium.
4. Nothing is perfect: There were things that I didn't like about all of the movies. There are also things that I didn't appreciate the first time through, but enjoyed the second time. I was disappointed that Begins didn't have a nice cinematic boss fight with Scarecrow. It wasn't until I thought about it that I realized that this movie is more that Batman stops bad guy. This movie was about Batman getting over his parents death and becoming something more. There were things I didn't like about all of them. Begins was very disorienting at the beginning, TDK could have done more with the mob, '89's story was more about the Joker than Batman, for Returns the story was really shaky, for Forever the villains were sillier than I like, and B&R's only good points were Dini's Mr. Freeze origin and a nice little story for Alfred.
Anyway, I hope I have given someone an idea that they haven't thought about.

Well on Bale I did think he was a good batman I was just suggesting someone else if Bale stepped down. Also since you miss the old times when people told ideas and such I put my idea into a better story.
Bruce would be angered by what happened and become a more burtal Batman.(He would be angry/Deppresed about what happened to Rachel and Harvey still.) Black Mask an on the rise criminal Hires a Brute Crircs Freak named Waylon Jones aka Killer Croc after Batman nearly stops Black Mask. Batman would proably end up fighting Croc his first time and fail miserable unable to beat his higher strength and force. (You could also use Bane instead of Croc in this story too.) Meanwhile Bruce is visted by an old childhood friend Thomas Elliot who during there meeting sneaks off to the Bathroom and takes his persona as Hush and tries to kill off Bruce Wayne. Gordan and the Police would show up and Gordan questions Batman not showing up to help when something tries to kill one of the biggest and important names in Gotham. (Also Hush would escape.)
Later Batman encounters Croc agian and comes out slightly better in the fight but still fails. Croc being as cocky as he is doesn't realize this and thinks next time they fight he killer croc will kill the Bat. Bruce beaten and brusied from fighting Croc and Hush in one day questions himself with not being able to stop Croc,Black mask, and now Hush but also not being able to save Harvey and Rachel. Batman would realize form talking with alfred that he needs to let go Rachel and Harvey death and move and worry about the people of Gotham who are being terriozed by these men now. Batman encounters Croc and Black Mask attempting to kill Gordan and the Mayor at a fundrasier. This time Batman beats Croc, Black Masks goons, and some cops which buys time for Black Mask to get away.
Black Mask would ask for help from Hush only to have Hush nearly kill him and push him off the Gotham Bridge. Hush and Batman would face off on top of Wayne Industries. This time Hush knows Batman is Bruce Wayne and Batman knows Thomas Elliot is Hush. After Batman beats Hush Hush accdenlty falls of the Building to his death. Bruce knows that it was him or me but still tries to save him. The Movie ending with Bruce flying off in the night.
(Also the POlice would be chaseing after Batman still I can't think of everything though.)

He was still the homicidal clown we all love, and it was the best interpretation of the character created. That's just your opinion. It was Nolan's and Ledger's interpretation...period! Who's to say some other actor will play the role 10 years from now and you won't say that about him? Every era/generation will have a different interpretation and none will be better than any other. Nicholson's version is just as good now as it was 20 years ago...In my opinion!!

to get this thread back on track, the british paper, The Sun, has reported that both Bale and Nolan will be returning for the third film which is set to begin filming next year and release in 2011. they also made the announcement that Megan Fox has signed on to play Catwoman.
let the story rumors and other cast rumors begin anew now and we can move away from hoping for a return/hoping for a change in regards to Batman and direction and writing.

I cannot stand Megan Fox. I cannot. I will lose all faith in Nolan as a director if he casts her, and I love him (Memento is my favorite of his)

There should be a slightly more obscure villain in the next film. Deadshot or Black mask maybe. I dont see why it has to be catwoman, the riddler or the penguin. Catwoman and the Penguin wouldnt work with the realistic feel of the previous films anyway.

Can't believe no one's talking about this. Nolan is confirmed to be working with his brother and David Goyer on a script for Batman 3.

*************major spoilers, inside info********** everyone must remember two things first off when david nolan made the dark knight he knew he was making a sequal also chris nolan always likes to stay ahead of the audience also this is chris nolan’s batman world and not the comic world he is directing so there are some major differences, but because of heath ledgers death some tweaks were made. I received so much good info from my source i don’t know where to start but here we go.
the movie starts about a year after the dark knight, batman is now a wanted criminal because of this wayne has shut down batman temporarily and is working at wayne trying to do good with medical research and not military research. during this time period gotham is again in chaos but a controlled chaos led by semi gangster oswald copplepot called the penguin (has not yet been casted) because of his stature. he is a arms dealer and controls all crime but is also very political and yes he will have a weaponized umbrella that we will see throughout the film but only used at the end. here’s where it gets interesting
the riddler is definitely in the film and has already been casted. this was the suprise news i received. chris nolan already snuck him in the last film. He was the man named coleman reese, in the dark knight he finds batmans identity. he was snuck in as a easter egg,get it coleman reese-Mr.Reese-Mysteries. in this film he will call himself the man of mysteries. they will show a backstory about his life being ruined and the loss of his family because of the joker threat.he ends up being a murderer highly sophisticated almost like from the movie saw. he is physically a nobody and will have no physical confrontation with batman in the entire film but he will kind of be batmans mental superior and tormenter since he also know batmans identity. at all his murder scenes he will leave behind riddles that appear to make no sense to the murder till the end. the riddles are not riddles to the murder but to batmans identity as bruce wayne. he signs his riddles with the term the man of mysteries, he gets the name riddler from the joker who he sends letters to at arkham. the joker in this movie receives the riddles signed ? before the murders happen.
the joker is in this film, originally he was to escape but because of heath’s death they found a new way to add him in the film which makes total sense. he will be a patient at arkham and in the “realistic” world that they are trying to create he will wear no makeup and will just have sever scars on his face from my source(paul bettany was offered the role ). once they realize that he is receiving the same riddles before the murders the city sends in Dr Harleen Quinn i hate to say this but my source says sarah michelle geller will take the part. Dr quinn and joker will have a hannibal lector-clarece type relationship at first until the joker pretty much drives her insane but unlike the comics she ends up killing him at the end and takes on his persona.
also mr freeze will be in the movie as dr.fries, he is being set up for a 4th batman movie along with harley quinnn. Dr fries works for wayne enterprises as a medical scientist but because of his dying wife begins doing cryogenic research on animals, near the end of the film he will end up perfecting it on animals and will end up experimenting on a human, Lucious Fox head of wayne enterpriese, yes unfortunately morgan freeman is killed in this film, dr fries ends up being caught and convicted for the criminally insane and is sent to arkham.
batman will end up coming out of retirement in the first half of the movie, throughout the beginning he will be bashed by the papers and the news while penguin will kinda be looked upon as a savior who got rid of the freaks. Bruce Wayne understands what he’s done from the last 2 movies and will now turn a blind eye to criminals like the penguin since gangsters will just replace gangsters. but when the man of mysteries aka the riddler is committing murders he decides he will try to stop the freaks, also after a couple riddles he learns that they lead to his identity being released. the main plot between him and the riddler is when he starts trying to beat the cops to the riddles and him and the riddler get into a mental cat and mouse game. the mayor of gotham will end up asking the penguin to hunt down the batman, he will offer him immunity for past crimes and also legitimize the penguins business interests.
the movie will end with batman at arkham trying to get to the joker so he can figure out the riddler, harley quinn will kill the joker before this. the penguins goons find out he is at arkham and try to use excessive force in getting to him but end up damaging arkham to the point everyone is freed from his cell. the mayor of gotham will eventually quarantine the entire island and cut it off, so the fourth film will have batman with mr freeze, harley quinn and all the crazies on the island while the riddler and penguin will be in gotham. the fourth film from what i hear will definitely be the last.
don’t worry robin is not in the movie, bruce wayne will go to a circus show and just mention that little dick grayson glides like a “robin” and also barbara gordon will oversee and here her father and batman speaking to each other and will bring up a curiosity but definitely no batgirl. it seems though there is a chance we may see a batgirl in the fourth film.

First, Sounds pretty cool Batlaw, but I doubt they will kill off the Joker. Still a cool possibility none the less.
Second, I love what Nolan has done, But I doubt both of these rumors are even a tiny bit true untill further notice.

No. We will definitely know when there's an announcement like this. Don't take IMDB seriously. This is the same site that said Aunt May would become Carnage in Spider-Man 3 and also said Eddie Murphy and Shia LaBouf would be Riddler and Robin respectively.

Nolan plans this to be his final film: www.newsarama.com/film/christopher-nolan-superman-batman-100310.htmlI think it's for the best and it will tie up all the ends up the trilogy. I hope he leaves it open though for a future director with the same vision to take over for more. I think it would be a good idea to make Batman an ongoing movie series like James Bond.

Good news everyone! I am back, and more annoying and rude then ever! And by looks of how dull this forum has become, I think you guys need me around! ;D
And since this is a Batman 3 rumor thread, I read somewhere that Nolan was going to recast Bale. This was obviously an April fools joke, but what do you guys think anyways? Recast Bale? Or no point since there is only one more movie left?

Mark your calenders Batfans! The Dark Knight returns July 20, 2012! www.heatvisionblog.com/2010/04/batman-3-release-date-christopher-nolan.htmlThis news itself is awesome, but you know what else this means? The Spider-Man reboot will be out 2 weeks before. So July 2012, the war is coming: the Bat vs. the Spider. Also, Superman is set to be out in December, which means all 3 of the most popular comic book characters got a movie coming in the same year. If 2012 is the end, then we got one hell of a year to go out on.
