With Production started, the news flow should be very heavy soon. The new thread will make it easier to look through for updates. This thread is for everything new about TDK BUT CASTING NEWS that goes in the Dark Knight Casting Thread.
Status of Production: Filming Release Date: 18 July 2008 (USA) Plot: Batman and Gordon find alliance with a newly appointed DA Harvey Dent to stop a vicious killer with a warped sense of humor known only as The Joker, a threat to both the good, and the evil of Gotham City. Filming Locations: Chicago, Illinoise Hong Kong, China London, England Las Angeles, California (For those who live or will be near those locations, TDK will be filming under the codename Rory's First Kiss)
This thread should also be used to post set pictures. Do not make a new thread unless you absolutely belive it is big news (i.e. First joker pictures, big press releases, trailers, etc.)

Update from BOF.
Nolan & a few of the producers where seen in a Chi-town mall in Chicago. It's believed it was location scouting although nothing on it has been confirmed. Nolan spoke somewhat on the film saying he's going after an epic feel for it.
A new character is confirmed as well. Salvatore Moroni is confirmed for TDK. Casting & his role in the plot is still unknown, although it's expected that it'll be similar to that in TLH & Dark Victory.
I dont like the idea of Joker scaring Dent either, I think that would kill some good storyline for Two-Face. If in the 3rd movie Dent goes on some sort of revenge, the Joker could possibly take some of the storyline possibilities away and if he was on Revenge against a mob person, there could be more possiblitlies, such as Two-Face killing him and then that makes hime a criminal and such.

Good point. However hunting a homicidal maniac & attempting to kill him would also make him a criminal & such as well. If The Joker scars Dent that'd set up a huge triangle in the film between Batman, Two-Face, & The Joker. Another thing idea I like is Moroni being involved in the Joker's killing spree somehow, so after The Joker is captured in TDK in #3 Dent's questioning Moroni at the Joker's trial, Moroni scars Dent, who not only goes after Moroni but also The Joker because if it weren't for him none of that would've happened.
Okay so I posted this a while ago but i cant remember where, but Comingsoon.net has put the "Most Anticipated Movies of Summer 08" poll up , and again TDK is way ahead in the poll.
The Dark Knight 50.3% Indiana Jones 4 21.4% The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian 6.7% Iron Man 6.5% The Mummy 3 5.2% Hellboy 2: The Golden Army 2.9% The Incredible Hulk 2.5% The Day the Earth Stood Still 0.9% WALL• E 0.8% Speed Racer 0.8% Get Smart 0.5% Mamma Mia! 0.4% Kung Fu Panda 0.3% Tonight, He Comes 0.3% Tropic Thunder 0.1% Step Brothers 0.1% Journey 3-D 0.1% Starship Dave 0.1% The Love Guru 0.0%
This could mean big things ($$$$) for TDK, im hoping big time that it surpaces BB!
People are excited for the new movie because they realize how GREAT 'Batman Begins' is especially after following the debacle that was 'Batman & Robin'. Plus, I think everyone is interested to see how The Joker will be portrayed in the new film.

Ya. I saw this on BOF & thought it should be mentioned. new pic of the Tumbler from TDK. They either haven't finished building it, this is used for long shots during a race stye scene which all the details are edited in in post-prod, or this is a redesigned Batmobile
No Dale in TDK Author: Jett Monday, March 26, 2007 - 8:11 AM CENTRAL TIME: Clint from MOVIEHOLE.NET shot me an email to let me know that the oft-rumored Alan Dale IS NOT part of the TDK cast. This "out of control" rumor seems to have started in a British gossip rag and took a life of its own. So who is playing Sal Maroni? Is Maroni even in the film? Does this mean that that James Gandolfini rumors has some substance? (No JG methinks). Nonetheless, with filming approaching, all casting questions should be answered soon...
On a related note, damn these rumors! Don't ya'll think it's about time for a new TDK press release? And maybe the official site too?

Great. I might be up there too. We're either going to Branson or Chicago for vacation this year. I'm hoping we can stop at both for a few days, one a my friends moved to Branson & I wanna attempt to see Nolan filming something.
Alan Dale is NOT in TDK, as confirmed by BOF. Scratch one off the Moroni list. There could be something to the James Gandolfini rumor though.
You know the place to be this summer will be wizard world chicago. Nolan is from Chicago and he loves filming there. Last time he brought rough footage to show fans there...that just might happen again this year!
[glow=red,2,300]I thnk the best way to go would to have Dent turned into two-face in the third , but you should see Dent lose control and that he has a problem(exactley like what we saw in Batman the anomted series ,in the episode where two-face was created) if dent remains normal in the second it gives amore emotional interaction with the audience in the third., plus Im still hoping it Maroni that scars Dent and not the Joker. I've been following TDK filming news for awhile, one resident of the Windy City, recently spoke to SSH about the filming of a chase scene:
Hey, I work in a McDonalds in Chicago across from where RFK's filming! I was denied as a driver, but got far along enough to know that it's for a car chase in the downtown Chicago streets, and their making preparations for a large aircraft to be very close to the ground, because they do not want any Suv's which is what I drive. They did say I could recieve a call back in June, about a role that would be shot in Native Plants Park.
Sounds interesting, either Nolan's going for an uber blurry chase scene, (JK) or Bats gets chased by the GCPD, gets his own copter, or everyone's favorite homicidal clown "aquires" one of his own.
Nolan will also be transforming the city's post office into the Gotham National Bank. "Armed Robbery, double homicide, leaves a calling card..."
Could Mr. J infact be seen robbing the Gotham bank as mentioned in BB?
& even more news from BOF,
More from Chicago:
"Right now they're doing test shooting in Chicago, with second unit production to start next week. The film will then go to England in two weeks and return to Chicago from early June till September.
Today they're doing some stunt tests and supposedly there a school bus set up on track that's supposed to be run into wall, I don't know if they be doing this today or later.
Thanks to "Chi-Town Bat-Fan" for the info...
Via The Windy City from scooper "PDUMNOTW." And yes, I know that's a lot of consonants:
"I haven't seen it myself, but a co-worker just told me they are filming TDK right now...in the West Loop of Chicago. The set is labeled as 'RFK,' I'm assuming for 'Rory's First Kiss.' The filming is supposedly near the Union Station train station, near the Jackson street post office. I'm going to try to duck out and see it, if I do I will report back."
I'll buy a vowel now Pat...
According to JOBLO.COM sources, Sarah Michelle Gellar will not be part of the TDK cast.
Murphy still remains coy about returning as Johnathan Crane in TDK, he's saying, there's a script out, I'd love to work with Chris again, I know who's cast so far, but I'm waiting for a call"
Sounds like The Scarecrow could be returning. & me likes the sound of that

I don't want to see Two Face in The Dark Knight at all, definately wait for the 3rd film. I want to see The Friendship between Batman & Harvey Dent really come to life on the big screen, along with Jim Gordon...
Plus throwing Two Face in the film with rumors of Scarecrow possibly coming back might make for too many villians, especially with The Joker being the main villian

Now, remember when we said that about Begins? It had 4 & they all had plenty of room to develope. I wouldn't mind it if he becomes Two-Face at the end & the last shot is Harvey inside ICU, sitting up in the bed scarred(first full look at the scars) & flipping the coin reciting some creepy thing that involves the number 2.
UPDATE: From SSH
'Matthew J.' wrote in this report from Chicago where The Dark Knight is about to start filming:
I went to where they're filming "The Dark Knight" and I saw what everyone was talking about with the post office as the Gotham National Bank. A few new notes though: Filming won't actually start until Wednesday. The "Rory's First Kiss" notices say that they will be filming until Saturday or Sunday from 6am to 9pm. I took pictures of the set and there is an additional set piece that they added to the actual building on its west side, not sure what it is going to be used for though. Also, the coolest thing that I saw was that there was a schoolbus inside of the building. Again, I have no idea what it is going to be used for but I'm sure it has to do with a major action sequence. I actually took a good amount of pictures. I tried to get closer to the east side of the building but I was chased away by set security. Oh well though, I got some good stuff.
Im hoping for some released photos of the characters. I think it would be best rather than having some clandestine fans snapping some bad quality pic and posting all over the internet. Plus, when shooting out in the open like that it'll be almost impossible to keep things hidden.

manstink: hey has their ever been a like origin story on martha wayne. I think it would be cool if she were like in some kind of cult, and she was like ritualistically murdered for trying to leave the cult. Anyways thats my opinion.
