Whoa...that's definitely more menacing than the animated or even the 80's version of the Riddler. I have to admit...it's going to take some time before I get used to "The Batman" like it took me some time to get used to the Animated Series when it first came out.
Not to be a whiner but I really wished (is that a word?) that they can do something more current/ modern like the Spider-man Animated Series...now that would be sweet...and I'm not even a Marvel fan!

Ive never really liked the Riddler. In fact, he's the one Batman character that I think was better portrayed on the '60's show than the comics of cartoons. This is one change I dont mind, maybe they can make the character more intresting this way.

I like it! He reminds me of Freeman from Mark of the Wolves I hope if he's been reimagined as a 'kung-fu villian' like the Joker they draw from that, since his design is ment for head ducking and weaving with his hair flowing around and his big hands and long arms are meant for sweeping chopping action.
and maybe I just like it because I'm not a HUGE Riddler fan to begin with so the changes don't bother me... but then again, looking at his New Adventures design, the only real change his made him gothy and a degree or two more gender neutral and instead of taking away hair from his original look they added more... it's not such a dramatic change when viewed in the evolution picture as say Joker or Bane who completely changed

I think this verison of the riddler is pretty good , And I think Robert Englund will do the Riddler justice in this one.

Creepy and Inventive. Just like the series itself. Well.. I'm not saying that the show is creepy. It's just that so far every villain we've see is some type of monster. Riddler is really a monster!

[shadow=green,left,300]You know I'm glad to see that the re-design has gotten a decent reception here. I know a lot of us are fans of Matsuda and team's new vision...and this version of Riddler fits perfectly into that. I understand not liking it if you're not a fan of the show at all, but if you like the other looks, this one really just falls into place, ya know!
He's definately got the most negative reception around the net...I think even worse than Joker.[/shadow]

i suppose we will just have to see how his character is,as ive said before if his character is done well then the look will fail to mean as much in time to come but heres hoping the character is done well.and i myself am a fan of matsudas new vision its just i dont like this design or man bat,but i like joker bane etc and open to change on all others, after all i liked the new joker and im a HUGE joker fan so changes dont matter that much to me BUT the character has GOT to be there

I actually really like this design now, after what, two weeks? Most of us will just wait until next year to see him in action before making a final judgment.[/shadow]

Dont forget that Robert Englund (aka most famously Freddy Krueger) is the voice for the riddler. THAT RULES! ! !

[shadow=green,left,300]I saw this post at toonzone and I had to quote it here...very well put...[/shadow]
these designs are not straying from any core character concepts. They're actually amplifying them. For instance, the Joker is an unhinged lunatic. So his design tests the limits of that image. The Riddler is an effete mastermind who has, since his inception in the comics, blurred gender lines in both appearance and manner. My God, the Riddler suits for both Frank Gorshin and Jim Carrey were slinky sissy-boy costume-ball dreams! (I can attest to this. I am a sissy-boy, and I was also the Riddler for Halloween 3 times as a child. I was not popular. But I was FABULOUS.)
So, it seems to me that this Riddler design is a rather ingenious extension of a dynamic that has always been inherent in the character.

(Not the part about being a sissy boy though - you know what I mean. ;D ) Stripping the character to their core and amplifying their most basic drives appears to be the basis for the redesigns. That's why I enjoy them so much.

I LOVE the new design for The Riddler....best Riddler design thus far. Just because he looks a bit goth doesn't mean he still can't be the criminal mastermind he's always been.
Matsuda and Co have added a new level that The Riddler's never really had before.....creepiness.

Must admit, I'm not a huge Riddler fan- the only time he ever seemed like a threat was in Batman Forever. Considering the [dripping_with_sarcasm]absolute BRILLIANCE[/sarcasm] of that movie, that should say something. I mean, a guy who leaves clues all around? Intriguing, but hardly threatening. I liked him best when he was humanized, eg. in his redone Year One origin and The Batman Adventures reform stories. This version looks interesting, though- the spindly form suits him, so maybe he'll be intimidating for once.

I'm not a big fan of this cartoon. "The Animated Series" was far better in my book. So, I can say that I don't like this Riddler.

Well, now, I guess everyone's getting the thoughts from me, the REAL RIDDLER! I guess I'm going to have to say that, even though I always thought he was the only Batman nemesis who was "classy" in the outfit section, I must say that this is probably the best animated Riddler yet. I personally think that they should have gone with basically an animated version of the Riddler from the "Batman Forever" movie. That was the best Riddler yet. I am not very pleased with the gothic style, but I guess it looks cool. Hopefully, they won't cast the Riddler as just another villain with a bad attitude against someone, who suddenly wants to take over Gotham. The only ones who weren't like that was the Joker, Scarface and Catwoman. Mr. Freeze had a bad attitude towards Batman himself and then tried to Freeze over Gotham. Cluemaster wanted revenge of the people from the game show "Think, Thank, Thunk: Put on your Thinking Caps." Bane was hired as a hitman by Gotham's biggest crime bosses who have beef against Batman, and therefore wanted to put him on ice. As for Oswald Cobblepott, he was simply a bit-more-than-average thief in "Call of the Cobblepott", but in the second episode featuring the Penguin, ("Birds of Prey"), he wanted revenge against Batman/Bruce Wayne. ManBat/Dr. Kirk Langstrom wanted to kill Batman to see who was "the better bat." Finally, Clayface wanted revenge on Chief Rojas because he blamed Bennet for letting Batman always get away. So, I hope that the Riddler has a different motive other than revenge, but also I'd rather not see him as the bit-more-then-average thief like the Penguin, Catwoman or Scarface. --- The Riddler
P.S. This goes out to Larry/Drizzt2218: I really liked your summary of the Riddler. P.P.S. I'd also like to say that sort of agree with vishman007, but I'll just have to wait and see the episode featuring the Riddler.

honestly, i like this riddler better than the other one cause the one on TAS seemed like he was a wanna b and he tried waayyy 2 hard 2 be a threat. the one on TNBA was too dull, he might have been good if we had seen more. the movie riddler was just wacko, he was joker crazy this one looks creepier and more threatening 2 batman, or at least i hope so. its sort of like catwoman, i hated the costume, i thought she looked like a mouse, but when i saw her on the show, it totally changed my opinion. she was by far the best animated catwoman.and we should we should give The riddler a chance(if u dont like the design, cause i do.)
