now here's something no one has mentioned and after reading GK # 61 this thought had occured to me, now everyone keeps using clayface to cover where someone is or who someone was but who says that Clayface isnt Hush. Basil Karlo is not a moron. I mean he killed Preston Payne and Lady Clay and took there power. he used to be an actor. In GK # 61, both Ivy and Hush mention playing a certain role, like when Hush says he was playing doctor in medical school. that or it could be Paul Sloan, the Charlatan who was also an actor, and since Hush has Tommy Elliot in custody he could have forced him to perform the surgery on Prometheus. I'm thinking Sloan, Dent, or Karlo or all three of them working together. and if its Dent, the scars could be from the plastic surgery, if you recall he's had it done twice before and he looked normal for a time, but the surgeries couldn't permanently take. and Clayface can shapeshift and Sloan has portrayed Dent in the past, both as Two-Face and as Harvey Dent. and the trenchcoat Dent was wearing during "hush" was alittle too much like Hush's to be coincidence.

I'm still crossing my fingers that we won't see another LONG dead character return...so I'm rooting for Harvey at this point. However, the angle with Hush/Poison Ivy is VERY interesting...as I recall, in Loeb's 'Dark Victory,' Two Face turned down Ivy's...*ahem*...proposition. Connection? Very possibly!

With regards to the fact that Hush and Poison Ivy are apparantly becoming an item (!!!), I think it would make most sense to have Two Face as the masked man. As villains, they'd have lots in common, we've seen that she's attracted to him (in a book written by Loeb, who co-created Hush!).
This romance eliminates a lot of options... First off, Clayface is out as the 'real' Hush. Poison Ivy used him as fertilizer in 'Fruit of the Earth' after he kidnapped her...doesn't exactly bring the phrase 'soul mates' to mind, does it?
As for Jason Todd, it doesn't seem like he'd be old enough to be shackin' up with a super villain- even if it is Poison Ivy. 'Cuz that would just be creepy. Really, REALLY creepy. Then again, maybe they're taking a cue from Marvel's Goblin/Gwen pairing over in Amazing Spider-Man. Nah...continuity's messed up enough as it is.
I don't recall the Sword of Azrael ever running into Poison Ivy, but as an ex-bat, I doubt he'd fall for her.
Kirk Langstrom? We haven't heard from him in a while. Too devoted to his wife...plus, surely he would've turned up in Man-Bat form by now.
Ras Al Ghul? He's had enough elaborate plots, and he's had Ivy work for him before (assuming that story is still in continuity), so that'd be way too messy for words.
Could still be Zsasz- he and Ivy have never teamed up before...but my vote's still with Harvey Dent, as an attorney, Two-Face or an entirely new personality.
Could the new item in Batman comics be HARVEY and Ivy?

all great points DG

Post by jlavaia on Jan 27, 2005 21:31:26 GMT -5
those are solid points, but the only thing that i dont see is them together, both of them use others to get what they need. and Hush manipulated Ivy during "hush", also if they were together, she wouldnt have helped batman. Hush did not want Batman knowing that Tommy Elliot is alive yet. (even though batman doesnt know, how would Hush know that Alfred couldnt remember seeing him), also Ivy doesnt like the fact that she's the reason the orphans are dying, and if Hush knows this, which he does based on his comment about the percentage of people who arent allergic to poison ivy, who says he's not using her to create a virus from her blood or something like that. Hush has his own agenda, he wouldnt even get involved during "war games". and also he was trying to kill Riddler for some time, remember who hid Riddler for a time, Ivy. maybe Hush knows and he's still trying to find him. Legends of the Dark Knight filled in from when he left Ivy's til now, and he grew a beard and was like a bum.

Re: Don't See 'em Together
The link on Page 4 provides info that Hush and Ivy are getting together. I agree, there are some questions that need to be brought up about bringing the two of them together...but anything that gets Poison Ivy more face time is okay in my book!

I thought of something. It was an idea I came up with; another reason why it would make sense for Hush to be Harvey. I think most of us know that Hush has great combat skills, but is also skilled in medicine and healing. If Harvey is Hush, that would reflect his duality; hurting and healing are complete opposites, and since Harvey was Two-Face, his possessing those two very different skills could be an extension of his duality. It's a possibility, IMO. Just an idea.

Hush is..... Harley. She's crazy enough to have another ID and she appears to have a thing for Ivy.... What? It's no worse than the Ambush Bug theory! ;D

In last week's Batman: Gotham Knights #63, Hush (while talking to Ivy) says he's Tommy. Now I'm really confused. Maybe Tommy's a twin?

that could be possible, but also remember no one knows that Tommy Elliot is not Hush, so he is still portraying him. also half of the villains from the "hush" arc never met him personally, Ivy being one, they dealt with Riddler. he could also be planting seeds, as he knows that Ivy talks to Batman and helped him find Alfred, so maybe he's thinking she'll tell him that he's Tommy Elliot.

I am curious to know how Batman: Jekyl and Hyde is related in contuity of the comics. Before Hush...after? Does something happen to turn him back? I hope we see more harvey soon.

What if he's just someone new we've never seen before? Maybe in a few months they'll explain his backround. Who knows, he might be a criminal Batman beat up and injured, he ended up all scarred, and as all batman villains do, he blames batman.

thats a good possibility, and remember Bane was able to figure out who Batman was, so Hush could have done the same. though to mastermind what he did during "hush" he wasn't just some hood who got beat up, he was a boss of some sort if that was the case.

this got me thinking of another possibility, maybe its Jordan Reynolds (Jordan Rich), the cop that shot Gordon during "officer down".

What if hush started out as Tommy Eliot, who tried to bring in two-face whom then took over the plot and captured Tommy? I mean lets face it Hush knows so much about bruce and bats, and enough about the rest of the villians to use them without giving away any of his information. It's like he had access to the Batcomputer and at the same time in depth knowledge of Bruce too. The dude is shady.

True, but Tommy has no motive I see, since the one Hush told Batman at the end of HUSH was not buyable, and obviously false, IMO.

I was kinda expecting hush to say something to bats when he called him Tommy in the latest Gotham knights, but unfortunetly not. Maybe next issue.
I just read it, The first issue if very interesting. Looks at more of the mental side of harvey.

ok. this one's wacky, but since you guys are talking about bat-mite as a theory I figure anything goes. here's a thread from the dc forums about Arthur Brown (cluemaster) perhaps being hush. read on before you laugh. Yes, you read that correctly. I believe that the true identity of Hush could be none other than Arthur Brown, the Cluemaster.
Why? Whatever has possessed me to think that a joke villain who has been dead for a few years is the big bad Hush? I have good reason to, believe me.
First of all, a few years back in ROBIN when Dixon was still writing it, there was the seemingly unresolved plotline involing Riddler and Cluemaster working on some big secret plan, and Stephanie was trying to figure out what it was. Riddler and Cluemaster found her out and threatened her, and she retaliated by kicking them both out of her house with a little bit of help (I think it was Canary or Batgirl who helped her, my memory is fuzzy). The plot was left there. Riddler disappeared from the pages of the Bat-books for a while and Cluemaster joined the Suicide Squad and apparently died, although no body was ever found.
The fact is, I think that even if Loeb hadn't planned this with Dixon (he probably didn't) he decided to pick up this loose thread when he took on BATMAN. Is it not possible that Nigma and Brown were working on the Hush plan? Batman did say this was being planned for at least a few years, and this Riddler/Cluemaster thing happened a few years ago. Brown is in better physical shape than Eddie and it is possible he is the hulk behind the bandages. I never bought that Elliot was quite that ripped. If I recall correctly, Brown is.
Another reason I think Hush may be Arthur is that during HUSH, the only member of the Bat-family that Hush didn't mess with was Stephanie. Now, one can say that since she was not a member of the group at that time that Hush/Riddler didn't deem her worthy of note. However, it's possible she wasn't a target because Arthur had no interest in hurting his own daughter.
Hush recently demanded from Riddler to know where the Lazarus Pit is. Stephanie recently died. He might want to know where it is for that reason. Now, I'm not entirely sure when PUSHBACK took place, so I am wrong about the above point if it happened pre-War Games. If I am, disregard the last paragraph.
Finally, we know from future solicitations of Catwoman that Hush comes gunning for Black Mask in that book in the next few months. Why? To take out the head honcho os Gotham's underworld and become the mega-villain he seems to so desperately want to be? Perhaps, or maybe it's because, oh, I don't know, Roman Sionis kind of tortured his daughter to death?
Ok...now an interesting theory...anything goes with the Hush discussions...so here's some insight I can maybe add... ...first my question...I'm still not convinced, because how did Riddler and Cluemaster deduce Batman's true Identity? BUT a fun thought...we all know a goofy version of Cluemaster has been featured in The Batman right? well I happen to know that Jeff Matsuda is a good friend of none other than Jeph Loeb.....perhaps him being in the toon was a tease/taunt? Thats just a theory..I"ve never heard anything to support it...
