Here's the deal...we all want to support J. and his Bat-efforts, so we're holding a little contest. Go out...by the book..and for every legitimate post you put in the talkback thread, you will be given one entry into a drawing....whats the swag? Why, signed issues of LOTDK by none other than J. Torres himself..along with some other goodies.... so chat away, and support a fan-friendly writer at the same time! Everyone wins![/shadow]

Thanks for the support, Matt! Along with signed copies of both issues, I'll throw in a signed copy of the first script, plus some Teen Titans Go comics, and your choice of one of my Oni graphic novels. Sound good?

Yeah the cover is great, very good depiction as to what the story is about. Freeze was very well portrayed in this issue. Showed how cold-hearted he is. (sorry for pun but with freeze in an issue then it's just so hard not to pun away) The detail on the Egyptian items were very detailed and it's always a pleasure to see Montoya in an issue. This contest is a great idea, i hope to win!

Yeah that gas thing was awesome. Adds another thing for bats to watch out for. And that wireless internet thing did seem to pop up alot. I imagine Alfred on LOG right now.

I finally got to pick up the issue. I must say, I'm quite intrigued by the whole situation. Firstly, J I have to say that your storytelling in this issue is fantastic. It reads better than most bat-books I pick up every month.
The flashback sequence was nicely orchestrated...the whitty comments between Alfred and Bruce were right on target...and I enjoyed the no-nonsense take on Freeze. Sometimes writers make the mistake of taking a character like Victor and making him too wordy...your version rang a lot of the actual BTAS version, which was fantastic. We saw the whole world of Freeze in this one...his anger..his hurt...and his evil. The story has a very classic feel to it.
You've left me hangin' I can't wait to find out what he's up to...and thats not easy to do. Great job on this one J.!

You're welcome J. I will be picking up issue two when it comes out. Your storytelling is quite refreshing. When i started to really get into comics a few years back i (fellow LOG-nites don't hate me) didn't pick up batman, any of his. The stories didn't impress me, i was thrown into the middle of long story arcs i didn't know much about, and i was a supes fan. I soon learned the error of my ways and got onto the bat. Now when i buy comics, 80% of 'em are batman related. Whether that being bats or one of his family. As i have said your storytelling is clear and very well done. Honestly the freeze situation in detective comics is quite dissapointing. When i was younger freeze was one of my absolute favs but that slowly subsided. Thanks J for capturing my interest in freeze once again.

Read it last night. Gotta say I personally give it a high mark! Its always refreshing and enjoyable to see the relationship Etc. of Bruce and Alfred get some spotlight!
I enjoyed the past tense format and naration. I enjoy when story tellers mix things around a bit like that.
The characters were all well portrayed IMO. Batman (and as Bruce), Alfred, and all the supporting cast such as Montoya were well done! (although, yes, the bit about the wireless connection couldve used maybe one less reference lol). I especially liked the Egytology angle overall, but particularly the treat about it being a quirk of Thomas Wayne's... delightful!! Those kind of "trivia" are pure fan-candy to me.
Matt's comparison to BTAS made me laugh... I couldnt, and still cant put my finger on it, but that was about the first thing I thought of when I finished reading the issue... "this reminded me of, or fealt like an episode of BTAS"!? Awesome!
Fantastic work! Mr. J! I'm deffinately looking forward to Pt. 2.

I have enjoyed your reviews everyone. I've always loved the B:TAS version of Mr. Freeze, so your reviews have inspired me to pick up a copy while I'm out tomorrow.

Well when I first looked at the cover and saw the frozen penguin I thought he was going to have a battle with the penguin. And now it looks like Freeze is going to turn Gotham City in to a huge frozen wasteland because of all the artic stuff he is collecting. DieLaughing

This was awesome, I'll try and write a review later on when current time constraints afford me more time for Batman. Alas, until then it seems i'll have to give Freeze a cold shoulder...ok bad pun ;D

Unfortunately, exams are going to delay my review but I just wanted to point out the continuing trend of Freeze becoming disenchanted with life so to speak. As to what Mr. Torres has in store, it coudl be anythign from a suicidal attempt to perhaps a reignition of Freeze's "fire"/ ambition.

tanbat14: Batman also thought of the Penguin somehow being involved in the plot... in the first draft of my outline. Initially, there were cameos by Penguin and Poison Ivy as Batman tried to figure out what Freeze was up to and make connections to what he was stealing. But because of other (as yet to occur) events in Gotham, they had to be omitted from the final draft.
jedimario: Good luck with your exams! Looking forward to your review whenever you find the time to write it.
marndt8448: Thanks for checking it out! Hooray for word of mouth! Or should that be word of... fingers?
Wow, will you look at that? #191 comes out next week. Time flies!

Now thats interesting....I suspect that may involve both recent Gotham Knights and Batgirl, since Penguin is now in Bludhaven. Wow, will you look at that? #191 comes out next week. Time flies! Wow, already?! Damn! I can't wait. remember gang, run out and get the issue right away and start discussing...the more valid posts you do in the thread, the more entries you have into our contest!
