Hi! I need some help and I hope that some great batman nerd out there can answer a question for me.
First off, let me start by saying its important because I have a cousin who loves anything batman and I am trying to find the perfect gift for him. Second, he absolutely can't STAND Superman.
I read online, and it may be false, that in a superman comic Batman kills Superman. I've already bought him the frank miller series so I know Batman kicks Superman's a%$ in that comic, but I wondered if that crazy post I read is true and if so does anyone know the title/number/series for this comic book?
Or can anyone possibly tell me how many times Superman has gone up against Batman and what comics they were in? That'd be helpful!

Yes, please read the forum rules regarding acceptable language and conduct prior to posting... and I'll just assume you meant "batman nerd" as a compliment.
As for your question, the two have gone toe to toe on several occassions but off hand I cant think of anytime Bats has "killed" Supes (in cannon). In an elseworlds book perhaps? The most popular fight is obviously Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns". Not sure thats what you referenced or the ongoing All Star Batman series. There was also a fun throw down in Darwyn Cooke's "New Frontier" one shot/special from a year or so ago. I think one of them pretended to die briefly in that. Im sure fother members can direct more.

okay, any comic depicting Batman killing Superman or vice versa is an Elseworlds story and didnt actually happen in continuity and i cant even name them all (batman1973 knows elseworlds real well and he can probaly tell those). in continuity, i can recommend Batman # 612 for a good fight. its been collected in Hush vol. 1. Superman is under the control of Poison Ivy and fights Batman. in the Public Enemies story arc from Superman/Batman, Batman fights a Superman from an alternate reality in a pretty good fight. and in the Torment arc from Superman/Batman Batman fights a mind controlled Superman there too. and during "with a vengeance" from Superman/Batman (seeing the pattern) Superman fights Batman while Batman is possessed by the 4th Kryptonite Man.
any of those issues and arcs are good for some in continuity fights between the characters.
