space has become a new issue for me, we plan on adding a new member to the family which means that i gave up my "bat-room" and moved everything to the basement. i dont mind, i happily make the sacrifice. because of this tho, i really changed my whole view on collecting as far as what i buy and what i open. room wise, it saves space to open the figures, especially if you display, it takes a TON of room if you want to hang carded merchandise. i went thru and chose the figures that i can live with having open and did so. i believe Matt said in another thread that the current after market value of newer stuff hardly ever goes much past the current retail price. its true. unless its some high end collectible that has a low production run, it wont be securing your retirement. lol. since really coming to terms with this i have redone my entire collection display and also regained the joy in collecting Batman merchandise and displaying it.

i voted for Bullock. always wanted a figure of him. there are so many that should have been done from TNBA. i especially wanted the newer version of Bane.

My first memory of a Batman toy was when i was 5. My Grandparents were watching me and my Uncle gave me the Batman and Robin Mego dolls. It was 1978. He also gave me an old issue of Batman he had.

i agree with Matt on the DKC thing. the Dark Knight Collection had an atmosphere to it. it had it's own destictness. this is the same feeling i get from the BBegins line.

This has and probably always will be my favorite line of toys. There is something very nostalgic about it. For me, i think, it has to do with the packaging. I like how they used photo images of Keaton on them., plus with the darker color scheme on the packaging. It just has a very "89" feel to it. I have also noticed that alot of the pieces from this collection has been getting more and more bids on ebay. Even the most common of this line are getting higher prices. And the same goes for the Returns line as well. It seems as the Forever merchandise stays at the same price points, if not lower, and the B&R items get little or nothing. But the Dark Knight line gets better with age. The only thing i'm dreading is, since there are still afew pieces from the DK line i still need to get, that with the new movie coming out, it's going to drive the prices on these older pieces even higher.
what are your thoughts on this?

Translites and counter cup display:
My original Cinnamon Twist wrapper. These were introduced in 1989 with this movie.
The 4 plastic travel cups.
The hanging mobile for displaying the 4 cups.
Employee crew shirt.
Window sign.
To my knowledge, there is only one thing that I am missing. It was a yellow plastic banner that read "Try New Cinnamon Twists" and featured the Bat logo.

I guess, in a aence, all the Batman toy lines, aside from B:TAS, have been let downs due to the fact that there has never been a complete rogues/hero release for any of them.

I agree about the Beyond line, never understood the reasons for such limited selection of villains.
The current Mattel lines, to me, are big disappointments due to the fact that availablitlity is almost non existent.

I would absolutely love to get a set of those 89 statues that were offered thru the studio stores when the movie was released.

Since this is the era that im focusing on with my collection, i wanted to share my Toy Biz collection:
The empty spot with my figures is where the Robin figure goes. I just won him off ebay MOC.
I still need the Joker van and the Cave playset, but the playset isnt a priority. However, if anyone has a Joker van they want to part with, let me know.

granted, this is no substitute for Super Powers, but the Toy Biz line has an appeal all it's own. I personally like the line. It has such a "comic book" look to it. Plus, this was the first time we got a Two-Face figure!

Yes, there were 3 versions put out by Toy Biz.
There were also 2 versions of the Joker. One with the painted hair curl and one without.
3 versions of the Penguin. One with a short missle, one with a long missile, and one that just shot the umbrella top.
2 versions of the Mr. Freeze, tho this one is a line packing error, one with a helmet, one without.

I have some of the plush in various sizes. Loved those things.
BUT, I had no idea of the different inflatable items!! That Batmobile is awesome!! I only ever knew of the hammers.
Man, this is why I love being a Batman collector, even after all these years, I still find things that I never knew about. This has actually given me a new invigoration for the old animated stuff.

Nope. These defintely qualify as "Retro".
What are on the DVD disks? If you can, why not give a review of each of these right here on the thread. Im sure there are other members that would find this very interesting, including me.
Good find.

I became a born again Batman collector at the start of 2006 (I turned 40 in July). I've accumulated a lot of current stuff over the past year and stuff from the last couple of years from discount stores. If I could go back and re-collect, I'd have the Mego dolls and accessories and the early Corgi vehicles that I had in my youth. What's cool is the stuff I run across on sites like this that I'd forgotten about. Mego Batcopter and Batcave (w/ working Bat-Signal), etc. These were pretty cheesy compared to what we have today, but from a sentimental value, they're priceless. cheesy or not, its those items that youll cherish forever.
And welcome to LoG.

what toy line do you wish you could pick up at retail?
For me, it would be to get the whole 89/92 Kenner Dark Knight and Returns stuff. Im still missing some of the items, but they are soo high now in the aftermarket.
What line would you time travel for?

See, this is yet another example as to why i have a problem with DC Direct. Its bad enough they charge a rediculous price for a simple figure, but the quality really is sub par compared to whats out there. This, to me, seems like a money decision. If collecotrs want story specific interpretations of Bats and Supes then basically they are being forced to buy what DC puts out. Good quality or not.
