Why!? I know you dont know personally, Matt, Im just bitching.LOL Why are they showing this stuff but not producing them? I just DO NOT understand Mattel as a toy company. Actually it was lack of retailer interest. No one wanted them. They couldn't do much about it in this particular instance. Really? Thats odd. You have to wonder though, Matt, if the problems Mattel has had with disrubution is affecting this. I sometimes feel so helpless as both a collector and a fan when it comes to things like this.

Opinions will vary on this, Im sure. Its always a shame when there is a loss of life, and regardless of personal opinions, the man was a pop culture phenominon in the 80's thru the very early 90's and had some fantastic music.

Watch out pre ording this. I had the batcycle and batcopter on pre order and I received a cancellation notice a couple weeks ago when they pulled the listing from their site. It also said the 2 -6 week thing when I ordered. The reason was that it had went passed the expected arrival time so they pulled it. Sounds like yet another Mattel distribution problem to me. When the heck are we going to see wave 2?!!

I say that in all seriousness. I think if Bruce dies in the 3rd movie it would be the perfect cap to arguably the best comic book movie series to date. Fans have been saying since Begins, The hyper-realism of Nolanverse leaves little room to explore the other, more far-out elements of the Bat mythos, that and Nolan himself has said several times there are characters and elements that have no place in his world and he never wants to use them. I say fine, let someone else come in and do their own Batman their own way. But after Nolan leaves don't do us the disservice of making a "pseudo-sequel" a la Superman Returns & Batman Forever where no one but the director knows for sure whether it follows anything that came before. It's a ******** gimmick that causes more problems than it solves. since this is kind of an elseworlds Batman story, there's no reason to keep it open ended like other stories. Unlike the previous series, Nolan's movies form a much more cohesive narrative, and that narrative needs a true, definitive ending in order to feel complete. How would any of you feel if they changed the ending of "Return of The King" in the hopes of milking a 4th LoTR movie? The height of absurdity, right? It's almost a sure bet that Joker won't be back without Heath Ledger (as it should be), but the ambiguity of Two-Face's fate means he can be brought back without much difficulty. This serves several purposes: 1: Gordon & Batman's worst fears are realized, the myth of Harvey Dent is shattered as Gotham is forced to face the ugly truth and uglier face of its once revered savior 2: It means Batman can be vindicated, at least in the eyes of the public, they might finally realize that Bruce really was the hero they deserved AND needed all along. 3: C'mon... Two-Face is too good a villain not to give him a chance to wreak major havoc Two-Face should go for broke, he should be hell-bent on burning Gotham to the ground (or at least half of it). During the course of the action something will happen, and Batman has no choice but to rush headlong into a situation he knows he probably won't survive, but he never wavers even for a moment, as long as he can draw a breath Gotham will survive. Two-Face is finally defeated and dies conclusively as Bruce dies as well. He lived as a warrior, let him die a warrior's death. Alfred remains to tell the story and set the records straight. In the end Bruce Wayne did just what he said he'd do back in "Begins," he returned long enough to show his people their city didn't belong to the criminals and the corrupt. You could tell me I'm crazy, but I know I'm not. How ballsy would that be, if Nolan had the guts to kill off the hero in the end? And not just any hero, THE GODDAMN BATMAN! NO. seconded

We still need to wait for Mattel to announce just who is going to be released, the price, AND how many are going to be available. You know that the scalpers are going to be at their keyboards ready to buy a dozen at a time of these so that they can pop em up on ebay at double the price. IF Mattel does indeed making these site exclusive then they need to limit the quantity you can purchase, or else these are going to be like the MOTU figs that sell out within hours of being made available.

I just got back from my nearest Wal Mart, needed some new shelves. Anyway, I was wrong. They hadnt already done the section cut, as I thought previously. NOW they did. Our toy section is now down to 3 aisles! Action figures are still less than one side of one of these aisles, and Batman now has a total of 3 peg spaces and 2 box shelf slots. These are all for Brave and the Bold. Thats all the DC that they carry.
Thanks again Wal Mart.

DCD is running out of ideas. They need to be given the full Batman license so that they can start doing things from all the past animation and movies.

Bruce will always be Batman so it doesnt really matter. He will never be permanently replaced, just like Kal as Superman and Diana as Wonder Woman. These 3 will never be anyone other than who they are. So in the end, it really doesnt matter who is under the cowl for these hiatuses they put bruce on. I wouldnt have minded Tim or Dick, but Dick, at least to me, does seem the more natural choice. Cassandra? Hated her as "Batgirl". Couldnt stand the stories, cant stand the character. THAT, to me, would have been a "slap to the face". As for throwing away years of writing and prep, does that even matter either? Continuity and history means nothing in comic books nowadays. Hasnt for a long time.

I'm still waiting for the Joker and Gentleman Ghost figures... LOG #1 As are we all. They havent popped up on the internet yet, so Im assuming that they, along with the rest of the wave, havent been shipped yet. Not quit sure what the hold up is, as wave one seems to be losing steam on the pegs. I DO NOT want to see what always happens with Mattels distribution. The first wave sits, retailers stop ordering, and we never get the additional waves. Get these things OUT Mattel!!

I believe that the 3 "area" Wal Marts near me have already done this. One has no craft and fabric section at all, and the other 2 have a very, very small section with just the basics. As for the toys, well, Ive been complaining for over a year now about this. Not one carries the Mattel toys. NOT ONE. As far as space, there are only 4 aisles for toys in each of the 3 stores. Action figures account for only 3/4 of one side of an aisle!
On a related subject, I was at my local Target yesterday evening to find that their toy department has completely vanished. The whole section is roped off with a big sign that reads "New Toy Department Coming Soon For Your Convenience". Not sure whats coming with this??

Well, since the thread you provided a link for was last posted on in August of last year and has been pushed back to page 3, and we average approximately 50 threads per page, I think we can assume that maybe the OP missed the topic and allow this thread to exist.
However, we do try to keep topics to one thread, but there are only a couple of us who moderate the forum and we do have lives outside the internet. So if anyone does see something that needs attention, please feel free to pm one of the Sentries or Moderators.

There is only one scene where I like Bales voice, and thats when he saves rachael when she gets off the train in Begins. It was very even and it didnt like he was starining. Thru the rest if Begins and in all of TDK, it was way over the top and too strained.

Does anyone know which figures are in the wave with atom and sportsmaster? Are their any new Batman variants that are out with these two figures? If so does anyone know what they look like? So far it seems that those are the only 2 new figs being released.
But anyway, heres whats been shown as far as basic figs:

That was a TRUs exclusive release.
There was also a "fake" Ra's released in that larger scale that had the trigger handle that made him fight. Cant remember the technical name of those.
And of course you have the one Movie Master Scarecrow and the re-release of the skull blast Scarecrow in the regular TDK line.

The question was presented many times since the Movie Masters line was revealed, but unfortunately all we ever got from Mattel was their age old answer of "its a possibility that we will look at in the future". I mean, give us something here, thats all Mattel ever says, in any of their Q&A's on any of the collector sites. They never give a definite answer of yes or no. They never tell us if we are going to get what we want. The other toy companies do give legit, straight answers to the collectors. Mattel gives b.s.
Considering we have some industry poeple that visit here on the site I hate saying this, but you all do need to hear this. Both collectors and kids will buy Batman toys, but you have to actually make them and distribute them! Its okay Eric, you need to be able to voice your opinion. You're a long-time collector and a trusted voice in the fan community. I think any of our industry friends will note that you're not bad-mouthing for no reason, you're constructively criticizing and hoping for change and reforms. I have experienced frustration with the Ask Matty feature, because unlike years past, we don't get straight answers on anything. It used to be that our friends at Mattel gave us scoops and dish on what was coming out..REAL news. remember those times? LOG had many a good bit of info. Now, its all very vague and it seems that any exclusive images that exist go to Toy Fair or AFI. I do remember those times and I often wonder whatever happened to that interaction. The fanbase is still there. The consumer base is still there. Its the company thats dropping the ball in this game.
Those of us who have been in this hobby for years remember how the Batman license dominated the toy aisles back in the 90's. Kenner/Hasbro provided us with not only movie based lines, but original and elseworlds lines along with store specific lines.i.e World of Batman and Spectrum of the Bat, not to mention the repainted Legends line from the WB stores plus the Hasbro Collectors Club exclusive figures and dolls. It has been said many a times in the past that the Star Wars license is a prime example of how a toy line offering al the characters in all their variations can be successful. Even the Transformers and GI Joe lines have strived, as have the Marvel lines, but the DC lines have struggled so much?
If I can offer one bit of warning to the Mattel staff, the ear fulls that you get from us fans will be nothing compared to what you will receive from the WWE collectors. Jakks Pacific has built a strong and loyal fanbase of both collectors and consumers over the past 10 years and I believe that they will be a tougher act to follow than Hasbro was with the Batman license. There is such potential with 2 major licenses that you do and will have, you really need to listen to the fans and retailers and step up to the plate.
